It's kind of strange, but for some reason we're getting WAY more support for Galleri from the mainland than we are from our home town.. Who knows why, but thats a much bigger discussion...
Anyways, on July 25th 2009, Galleri Magazine plus artists selected from Issues 1-4 were invited to take part and attend a major fashion show production held at the Jing Yuan Art Museum in Beijing.
The event, "The Art of Life", for multi-label brand SIU featured dance performances, an elaborate fashion show starring model Liu Dan and an exhibition of Galleri artists' work.
Galleri artist's in attendance were Scott Chan, Kalun, Ike, Emily Eldridge, David RE and Jesper McIlroy as well as Galleri founders Jay FC and Timon Wehrli.
Thanks to Ricky Lo and all the lovely ladies at SIU for the invitation and for making us so welcome in Beijing. This is just the start of many forays into Greater China for the magazine and its mission.
Check out the pics below and see the whole lot in the recently posted album HERE
Had a bit of a marathon update session today, so check out the rest of the Galleri Magazine profile here to see a selection of images from the last G4 launch event, a closer look at some of the work from the Classy Dirty Exhibition, some of the pages from the G4 mag itself and an album of random press clippings that we've recieved this past year...
Plus Stephen and the boys at alivenotdead.com have done us proud as always and put the whole of GalleriFOUR into some cunning online PDF viewer thing - so you can flick through the pages almost as if it were a book. Plus there's the option to download the soft copy if you missed out on the real thing.
Thanks as always to everyone for supporting this project - please enjoy and we hope to see you again with a new issue in the new year.
Jay FC & Timon Wehrli
PS: Merry Christmas.. Ho Ho Ho...
Well we're just about recovered over here at GHQ after the truly epic launch party last night for GalleriFOUR... Over 500 people showed up to DADA Lounge to get an exclusive first view of the magazine, down some serious Belvedere cocktails and shake their bootys to some fine tunage courtesy of Simon Pang and the boys from Stattus.
A very big thank you to our sponsors - Belvedere Vodka, DADA Lounge and of course alivenotdead.com for helping to make this one of the best Galleri events so far... And thanks to all those that made it all the way to TST for the party and showed their appreciation and support! We love you all!
We'll upload all the pix of the night as soon as I can function normally and operate a computer.
Thanks to everyone who's already shown love and support for tonight's big launch event... The mags have arrived here at GHQ and look awesome, and we'll be spending the afternoon setting up the venue for the Classy Dirty Exhibition and party...
So to everyone who's RSVP'd - we'll see you down the front for cheeky Belvedere cocktail or two... And best get there early - we kick off at 8pm - it's gonna get busy and we wouldn't want you to have to stand outside in the cold..
Venue reminder: DADA lounge at the Luxe Manor Hotel, 39 Kimberly Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. (Nearest MTR TST exit B2). Check the Luxe Manorwebsitefor a map.
There's big sigh of relief here at GHQ as we just sent out the last of the G4 artwork to the printers following a saucy late entry from Simon Birch in the Classy Dirty feature... All good stuff...
Here's a sneak peak at the contents page so you can see what's in store and also a reminder that the event will be on Dec 10th at DADA at the Luxe Manor. And as if we weren't already giving enough, we've just confirmed that the Uptown Rocker's Simon Pang will grace the decks on the night, alongside the evidently not retired at all Bodhi.
But remember this is a strictly list only event, so please RSVP if you're coming and limit your guests to just one each... Thanks in advance for understanding!
See you down the front.
Its been a bit of a struggle nailing a date and a place for the launch event for the next Galleri Magazine, but we finally did it...
It's now confirmed for Wednesday December 10th 2008 at dada at The Luxe Manor boutique hotel in TST. This is the venue that we'd been holding out for, so its been worth the wait. Not even officially open yet, dada is a perfectly executed, brilliantly kitsch and conceptual collision of ideas and colours – not surprisingly drawing its inspiration from dada – the anarchic and disruptive anti-art cultural movement of Europe in the early 1900s.
There's a sneak peak at the venue in predictable abstract dada style below.
And don't forget it's not just a magazine launch this time as we'll also be having the CLASSY DIRTY Group Artist Exhibition in collaboration with Belvedere Vodka as well as the officail launch of the galleri.hk website created by alivenotdead.com
More info as it happens and thanks again to Belvedere Vodka and alivenotdead.com for helping to make this happen.
As part of the launch event for the upcoming GalleriFOUR magazine, we're currently looking for contributions and submissions for a special exhibition themed CLASSY DIRTY.
The exhibition is being designed in collaboration with Belvedere Vodka – one of our supporters who has generously stepped up to help make G4 a physical reality – and includes recent works by Terry Richardsonwho has already interpreted the CLASSY DIRTY theme exclusively for Belvedere's breakthrough new campaign.
The brief is simple - and it goes out to all artists regardless of discipline or experience - just submit a piece of work that reflects the CLASSY DIRTY theme. It could be new work or a past peice that fits the theme. It could be anything. It is entirely open to interpretation.
The best pieces will be selected for a one-off exhibition on GalleriFOUR launch night (December 10th) and all artworks will appear in a special feature in G4 magazine.
And here's a couple of Terry's interpretations to help get your (creative) juices flowing.
Many thanks to Belvedere for helping us get G4 off the ground and to all of you lot for your continued faith and support for what we're doing.

Notes to contributors:• Maximum resolution digital files at 300dpi should be submitted. • All artworks will be fully credited. • All artworks will only be used in the one-off exhibition and the magazine and will NOT be used commercially in any way – this is a creative project. • Information and enquiries to: info (=at=) galleri.hk
Yes, yes - I know we're really behind on this issue. We had SKIN:INKS, then we were in and out of town, and then there was our regular day jobs, and then I moved house, and then there was a global economic implosion.. and then.. and then... anyways - no more excuses...
GalleriFOUR Launch date is now set for December 10th 2008. And as usual we'll be having some spangly and lavish star-studded launch event - so keep checking back for the latest updates.
Thanks for your patience and continued support - this will be a good one. I promise.
Check out the awesome new Galleri website that just went live over at www.galleri.hk thanks to Stephen Wang, Patrick Lee and the rest of the ever-supportive Alive Not Dead crew.
The new site is loaded with new features, links to all previous artists and websites, event pictures, direct links to the blog and forums plus all the info you need to get involved or contribute. And of course you can now view all past issues with a very cunning new online PDF viewer.
Brilliant work as usual from the Alive Not Dead possee... And a special thanks to Stephen for putting up with my spectacular lack of technical knowledge and for making the new Galleri site more than I ever hoped for..
