ENTERTAINMENT EXPO 2009 PART 3: HONG KONG FILMART INTERVIEWS

[if gte mso 9]> Normal/w:View 0/w:Zoom 21/w:HyphenationZone false/w:SaveIfXMLInvalid false/w:IgnoreMixedContent false/w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText /w:Compatibility MicrosoftInternetExplorer4/w:BrowserLevel /w:WordDocument <![endif][if gte mso 9]> /w:LatentStyles <![endif][if gte mso 10]> <![endif]

I did two kinds of “Filmart interviews” between March 23 rd and March 26 th: interviews about the Filmart and interviews at the

Hong Kong Filmart. The interviews at the Filmart include of course the HAF interviews(which is also an organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and his located in the Hall 1 of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center, like the Filmart), and also some interviews that I’ve done during the Mei Ah/Big Media event. Compared to last year, it was not as attractive, because not a single movie trailer was shown this time.

Basically, all the producers ( Terence Chang, John Sham, Joe Ma…), directors ( Vincent Kok谷德昭, Wilson Yip葉偉信, Derek Kwok郭子健, Soi Cheang鄭保瑞, Adam Wong黃修平…)......and then actors/actresses ( Fan Siu-Wong, Hu Jun, Wu Jing, and some newcomers) of the new Mei Ah movie projects, came on the stage to say a few words about what they are working on.It was all in Chinese, and there was no translation. After those presentations, I said hello to Derek Kwok, and asked him a few questions about his new projects (one of them is a kung-fu movie).

Then, I also interviewed briefly Bonnie Sin冼色麗, the main actress of Derek Kwok’s The Moss青苔, who’ll play in the next movie of Adam Sau (I interviewed him as well) which will be about dancing.Actually I didn’t have much time to make long interviews, cos’ it was just before the Asian Film Awards (I missed most of the Red Carpet movie stars arrival).

Concerning the interviews about the Filmart, most of them were only audio recorded. I did most of them the last day of the Hong Kong Filmart (March 26 th). I was in a rush, cos’ everybody was packing, and I tried to make as many interviews as possible before they all leave.I had the time to interview people from Film Workshop Distribution (“ Overheard”, the next Andrew Lau/Alan Mak suspence thriller starring Lau Ching-wan, Daniel Wu and Louis Woo), Mandarin Films (“ Ip Man” and coming soon, “ Ip Man 2” + a 3D remake of “ Sex and Zen”!), Mei Ah (“ Kungfu Cyborg”),......CJ Entertainment (Park Chan-wook’s “ Thirst”, Bong Joon-ho’s “ Mother”…), and Universe (“ Storm Warriors”, “ Tactical Unit Comrades in Arm”) who’ll release the new Benny Chan action movie and another Pang Brothers shot in 3D. I also interview the (English) director Gareth Evans, (Indonesian) producer Ario Sagantoro, and (American) agent Todd  " Twitch" Brown, of an awesomely good looking kick-ass action movie named " Merantau", that you’ll hear about very soon…

Frédéric Ambroisine (March 29 th, 2009)Coming soon: HKIFF Opening (“ The Shinjuku Incident新宿事件” + “ Night & Fog天水圍的夜與霧” Premieres), Asian Film Awards ceremony, HKIFF “ Sniper神鎗手” Premiere, FILMART “ Bodyguards and Assassins十月圍城” press conference, Hong Kong New Action discussion ( John Woo吳宇森, Oliver Stone, Andrew Lau劉偉強, Feng Xiaogang馮小剛), Film Workshop exhibition + retrospective and more…
