70 MINUTES OF MY VIDEOS ON "MAD DETECTIVE" UK DVD

It's the first time that my some of my work will be released in England. On November 3rd, 2008, the UK DVD of Mad Detective, distributed by Eureka Entertainment in the Master of Cinema series, will include 70 minutes of bonus features that I've shot in Paris (France) in March 2008, during the Johnnie To Retrospective, organized by the Cinémathèque Française and in Udine (Italy) in April 2008, at the Far East Film Festival.

Here are the details with some screenshots :

-Q&A with Johnnie To at the Cinémathèque Française Johnnie To retrospective (Paris, France, March 2008) – 35 minutes

-Exclusive cast interviews shot during the Far East Film Festival featuring Lau Ching Wan, and Lam Suet (Udine, Italy, April 2008) – 14 minutes

-Interview with Johnnie To for the French theatrical release of Mad Detective (France, 4th March 2008) – 21 minutes Actually, I was asked to deliver only 60 minutes of materials, but I originally did 100 minutes. And because, there wasn't enough place on the DVD, they had to remove 30 minutes (which means 3 more extra features :  1 - Mad Detective French Premiere / 2 - Milkyway Image seminar at the Far East Film Festival / 3 - Mad Detective Cast & Crew tour at the Far East Film Festival).Hopefully, those missing extras will be available online soon on my website and Mad Detective website as well normally. The UK DVD of Mad Detective will also include a 16-page booklet wrote by the great film historian David Bordwell(Check out his website here : http://www.davidbordwell.net/)Frédéric Ambroisine (Oct. 30th, 2008)

Wow--Johnnie To, Lau Ching Wan AND Frederic Ambroisine together on one disc? Too good to be true. Why only the English release? I wish the American release would co-opt the material, too. Is there even going to be an American DVD release of Mad Detective? All Amazon is selling is the Mei Ah HK version, and those are usually very skimpy releases with no true special features (I don't think trailers for other DVDs the brand is hawking count). I'm crying because I bought a HK version of Perhaps Love, and there ain't no special features, though the version I rented from Netflix did have them. Keep up the good work Frederic, special features, especially intelligent ones, can really add a lot to a film.
