  • My mum and I

    Friday, Nov 20, 2009 8:58PM / Members only

My mum and a nephew I never met....
(Yu Jun, 俞俊, half Chinese and half Korean)

Hardly ever seen my mum being so happy....
(She's 60 and yes, she had a manicure done. To those who know how I do my finger nails, it'd be explicitly obvious how different my mum and I are as women or I should say how far away I am and have always been from her expectations of "her" daughter :P Not a bad thing to have such a mother. I turned into a warrior. In another distinctive way that I cannot explain, we are very similar too. )

MAYBE I should go back for Christmas.... What do you think?

  • Winner!

    Monday, Nov 9, 2009 4:45PM / Members only

WOW! As a first timer, I was happy enough to even complete the competition. I was more than thrilled when I heard that we won:
    **Best Directing**
    **Best Screenplay**
    **Best Acting**

for the 48 Hour Film Festival. Although we did not win the big award but I am happy enough. :)
We'll look forward to more on our bigger feature, Love Hurts.

Congratulations to Thomas and the actors. Congratulations to the whole Spontaneous Combustion team! I am so excited.

PS: It's freezing cold here in Beijing. minus 6 degrees tomorrow. I feel like I am in a freezer. It's been snowing today. COOL! The news warmed my heart up! GRIN!
  • 48 Hr Project, SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION: Cocktail Definition

    Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 10:21AM / Members only

Holla, Greetings from Beijing to everybody. This is Yung Yung Yu for Spontaneous Combustion.
Arrived in Beijing last night and was welcomed with snow and cold weather. I haven't seen snow for a long while, 10 years. Am getting my hair cut by Tommy Wu at LaBelleza for 2nd part of Direction to be shot in Beijing. Found out that Tommy is actually from Hong Kong too.

Back to 48 hr topic. The project started on Oct 30th 19:00PM. Thomas and I rushed to Club 71 from Central Station. By the time we got there, we were drenched in sweat and heavy on breathing.

A lot of people arrived already.

Ivy was a little shy with public speaking and had Spencer helping her on delivering her speech. It went really well!!

Soon was 19:00PM. We went back to Tin Hau to come up with our story. After bags of snacks and a long discussion, Thomas kicked us out of his office. LOL, it was a joke. We left the office so that Thomas could put together a script based on the discussed details. Guess what we did! Simple. Dinner of course. Yes, dinner at 23:48PM. You would not be surprised to hear them asking for Yin Yang (coffee plus tea) drinks.

After late supper, bang bang bang, we were on our way to Chai Wan.

    On set takes:

    Andrew getting ready

Exhaustion caught up with the crew

    But we pressed on

And we enjoyed every minute of the moment

Food. I couldn't seem to eat though... Guess maybe some of them felt like me too but we all kept a high spirit.
watch out for Andrew above,... hahahaha

    Everybody was exhausted....

Apart from the happy and excited student :P

    Next shoot :)
I never saw Thomas smiled on camera. This is the first time.

    My scary Halloween producer look!

    Last shoot,

I can't stop laughing each time I look at this picture. Thomas looked so terrified. hahaha....

you can see the crew getting a little more relaxed. Genuine happy smile.

On the bus back to Chai Wan.

We were joking all along about Andrew and Simon having it together. hahaha....

We thought that was it. We finished shooting in 24 hours and we'd have lots of time to edit. After a prolonged period of time waiting for the files to be imported into the editing system, we found out some crucial scenes were soundless due to mechanical malfunction. I am happy that we were able to overcome the circumstance with cold headed mindset. We did a re shoot last minute despite no previous locked down location. Everybody was out there again. For the team! We got the movie IN on time. I am so proud of the team!
From left: Koora May Lee, Lara, Sean Tierney, dignified Andrew Lang, Yung Yung Yu, fainting Simon J Young.
Far left: crazily exhausted Thomas. Since this picture was taken AFTER the drop off, Stephanie already left. It was a pity she wasn't there to take a picture with us.

Finally, Greetings from Beijing! This is Yung Yung Yu for Spontaneous Combustion.

PS: Yes, I just cut my hair again! >_<

PSS: Wanna read more narrated version of the 48? Read Thomas' blog. Well, after all, he's a writer. Me? I am just a reporter. hahahaha...

  • Esprit and after

    Monday, Oct 19, 2009 2:09AM / Members only

I was late for the event but still managed to get some cool pictures! Had other stuffs to do that night. I felt bad when Trina came to ask me "Why are you so lateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee?" in a high pitched voice. What makes me feel even more wrong is to see her losing so much weight from overworking on the campaign. Makes me feel really sad. Hopefully she gets more eat and sleep after this.

Went to watch New Territory Teaser at Jean Luc's house near Clear Water Bay at TAI PO TSAI. Love his place, 2 stories with balcony on the top. Very very nice little space; private and quiet.

With Vincent and Jean, the supporting male lead and lead actor.

For more Esprit pictures, go to the album.

Sorry Yung Yung, I've been swamped with work and just catching up. When I sent the original thoughts on acting to you, I left the "e" out of Mr. Kingley's name, spelling it Kingsly. Editors have to be fastidious about spelling people's names correctly especially in the credits. It could be life-threatening for them :-)

Sorry, should have added a wink at the end of my last comment ;-) the costume was assembled so haphazardly that I don't think anyone recognized me or what I was dressing as.
