Porsche introduced the newest edition of the Porsche GT3 Carrera Cup car in the 2010 season. With the world in economic turmoil leading into the season, many Carrera Cups worldwide were finding it difficult to upgrade cars and keep their series' in good working order.  Unlike the rest of the world, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2010 season saw the largest and highest quality Carrera Cup in the world, and in the history of the Cup in Asia. There were 23 drivers in the grid, making for a spectacular season with Porsche's newest machine.The 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Carrera Cup car offered greater value to the teams, than ever before. The car also introduced a much wider body in the year than its older relative, along with front wheel arches. This produced better stability and increased grip for the driver.The motor inside the car was increased in capacity from a 3.6 to a 3.8, developing 30 bhp more than the last model. The 3.8 litre six cylinder horizontally opposed power unit develops 450bhp (331kW), a six speed sequential gearbox, and weighs 1200kg. It is virtually identically, to the road going 997 GT3 RS MkII.Additional Unibal joints are featured on the track control arms and the sword-shaped anti-roll bars front and rear. Adjustable to 7 positions, this additional features made the 2010 car a little more sensitive, and requiring larger skill to get the maximum out of the race car.The 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car was introduced across the world in several different Carrera Cups including Germany, Asia, Japan, and Italy. The new car was also seen in the GT3 Cup Challenges of the USA and Middle East.Upon being asked about the differences between the 2009 and 2010 editions of the Porsche Carrera Cup car, Singaporean driver had this to say. "The cars definitely possesses the same DNA. You can really feel it when you drive them. It almost feels like they have a soul! As for the differences, the new car definitely has more grip, more downforce and more power! The suspension upgrades also require more driver skill though they are extremely rewarding when you get it right!"The 2011 season promises the use of the same spec car as 2010, making for great racing in Porsche Motorsport across the globe.
