Yuey Tan enters 4th season in PCCA

2012 sees Singaporean driver, Yuey Tan in his 4th season of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. The one make Porsche series, entering it's 10th season, sees 7 action packed GP weekends including the support races for the Singapore, China and Korean Formula 1 GP's. Other race venues will include Zhuhai, Ordos, Shanghai and Malaysia.

"It's been a privilege to race three seasons, and three Singapore GP's. In 2012, the team and I are going to be looking for some strong performances from the start of the season. Don't want to lose points early on which is what happened in 2011. We are going to have to work on more consistently fast pace and of course managing the tyres are going to be key."The Nations race ace started his racing career in the Porsche series at the end of 2008, taking over from Aussie driver Greg Ward finishing the 2008 season. In his first ever race, Tan out-qualified fellow Singaporean drivers Gerald Teo and David Lai finished a respectable 5th in category.2009 saw Tan further improve, joining forces with Kiwi race engineer Andy McElrea and racing under the Porsche Club Singapore banner with fellow countrymen, Mok Weng Sun and Ian Mao. From here, his rate of improvement rocketed putting him further up the grid as the season progressed. Overhauling Singaporean Ian Mao at the Zhuhai GP, his confidence continued to grow. By the end of 2009, Tan was nipping away at the heels of fellow Singaporean, Melvin Choo and Taiwan's Jeffrey Lee.2010 meant more mileage for Tan, taking part in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. From the start of the season, Tan was now with the newly created McElrea Racing division in Asia, currently the title holder of most successful Porsche Carrera Cup team in Australia. With McElrea, Tan further improved throughout the season and raced some epic battles with Taiwanese Jeffrey Lee. At the final race of the season, Tan out-qualified Singaporean racing legend, Ringo Chong and also beat him to the checkered flag for the first time in wet conditions.

2011 saw a challenging first half of the season, consistently competing in the top 10 though often suffering from a combination of mechanical failures and driver errors. This cost Tan dearly though the Singaporean saved his season with inspirational performances at the Singapore and Shanghai GP's. This allowed him to work his way back up into the top 5 standings in category.
