Writer/ Director: Harris Goldberg Cast: Matthew Perry as Hudson, Lynn Collins as Sarah, Kevin Pollak asTom, Mary Steenburgen as Dr. Blaine

Synopsis: spoilerScreenwriter Hudson Milbank (Perry) suffers from acute depersonalization disorder. So alienated from his own life that he makes the chronically depressed look perky, Hudson lives alone, watches The Golf Channel all day, can't hang on to a relationship, shoplifts in order to get his adrenalin up off the floor, fears that thinking about his dad's death will bring it to pass, loathes his mother, and in general, is as nutty as a crapshack in a peanut farm. Obsessed with the underlying sadness that infuses his wretched existence, Hudson is a man in hell, but he thinks that his long catalog of dismally unsatisfying and mutually self-destructive relationships is over when Sara (Collins) stumbles into his life. He knows she can save him. She knows he has to save himself. Together they save each other. -internet movie database

Review: It is not the first time i saw a movie on writers writing about themselves, having mental disorders and leading disfunctional lifes, at the same time trying to make a comedy out of it, only this time director H.Goldberg decides to bring in a bit of romance too. From the Hudson charactor u see a lot of depersonalization disorder, a 'mind-numbing' factor that grows in your senses, until u get such a 'out-of-body' experience u end up wanna blow your brains out. Hudson, did not choose to do so however, instead he did all he can to prevent it from happening. But then he still lacks the courage to walk completely out of the numbness, until he met the love of his life. The Sarah character is like representing the good-beings in life, that entered Hudson's life without much precaution, and romance eventually got grinded out by his illness, or rather, his overpowering self-absorption. This is actually all this movie is about, if a person kept victimising himself, then he will be stuck with his pitiful self the rest of his life. In a romantic relationship, ppl want givers, not takers, and certainly not any A.D.D. related mental illnesses. Luckily, director H.Goldberg had done a fanastic job on emphasising the importance of selflessness, just to let us modern time cosmopolitans understand why our romantic relationships often fail 'for no particular reason'.
