Calling all bands! Sign up to win your slot at an alternative music festival in Canada!

The Underground is proud to be involved for the second year with the Quebec Government to find a band from China to perform at the Envol et Macadam alternative music festival in September 2012.

The festival is for alternative music.
The festival will provide return air-flights and four nights accommodation in a four-star hotel for the winning band.
The winning band will perform at the festival and be included in the festival promotions. The winning band will have free entry to attend all stages and mingle with music professionals and other bands.
Last year's winners from Planetrox China were "Noughts & Exes" from Hong Kong who said:
"Playing Planetrox was good fun. It gave us our first ever show in North America and an opportunity to bring our sound to the good folk of Canada while meeting other like-minded bands from around the world." Gideon, Noughts & Exes"
PLANETROX IS A FOUR-STEP PROCESS:
1. Each participating band uploads an MP3 of one of their original songs – and a panel of international industry judges will choose 10 semi-finalists from each country.
2. The 10 semi-finalists in each country will upload a video of their song. A public voting process will then follow and 5 finalists will be chosen by the results of this public vote combined 50/50 with the judges’ vote.
3. The 5 finalists in each country will perform in a live Final in their country and an audience vote combined 50/50 with a panel of industry judges vote will decide the winning band.
(This Live Final will be on 7 July 2012 in HONG KONG) (bands have to make their own way to Hong Kong for the Live Final if they are from other parts of China)4. The winning band will be invited to perform (return flights and accommodation for 4 nights provided) at one of Canada’s biggest live music events,
the Envol et Macadam Festival in Quebec City from September 6-8th 2012.Envol et Macadam is Quebec’s top alternative music festival. It continues to innovate and to develop projects that allow local and
international up-and-coming artists the chance to take part in an event that annually attracts over 20,000 music fans, as well as
many industry professionals. Its programming appeals to a young and hip crowd; Rise Against, Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, Mastodon, Sum 41, Pennywise, Karkwa,

此音樂節是以前衛音樂作主題。
大會將會提供勝出樂隊來回機票及四晚四星酒店住宿。
勝出樂隊將會在音樂節中演出及協助宣傳，取得全部免費通行證到各個舞台與世界各地的樂隊及音樂專家作交流。
上年Planetrox China勝出樂隊，來自香港的”Noughts & Exes”說：
「參與Planetrox是一次很有趣的經驗。它給予我們機會踏足北美的舞台，將我們的歌曲表演給加拿大的朋友，並與來自世界各地有相同理念的樂隊交朋友。」
Gideon, Noughts & ExesPLANETROX分為四個階段：
1.每隊參與的樂隊必須在5月11日前(東部標準時間)網上登記並上傳一首原創歌曲的mp3，以及邀交參賽費用(每隊USD25 / HKD200 / RMB200，包稅)，由國際音樂界專業人仕組成的評審團將從每個參與國家中選出10隊樂隊入圍準決賽。
2.每個參與國家中入圍準決賽的10隊樂隊上傳一段音樂錄像。由5月21日至6月4日期間接受公眾的投票及評審團將以50/50的比重選出5隊樂隊晉身決賽。
3.每個參與國家中入圍決賽的5隊樂隊將在地區決賽中現場演出作品。現場觀眾投票及評審團將以25/75的比重選出勝出樂隊。
4.來自15個國家的勝出樂隊將獲邀於2012年9月7-8日參與加拿大最大的現場音樂活動-- Envol et Macadam音樂節的演出。（大會將提供往返航班和4晚住宿）
Envol et Macadam音樂節致力發展及帶動計劃提供本地及國際樂隊機會演出，吸引數以百萬計的音樂愛好者和不同行業的專業人士參與。過往曾經參與演出的知名樂隊有：Rise Against，IAM，Bad Religion，Mastodon，Sum41，Pennywise，The Sounds，Metric，Jean Leloup，Radkwon和Bloc Party等。

The Compilation CD entitled "Come On... Blaze Ahead!" was successfully launched at Hard Rock Cafe and Backstage in Lan Kwai Fong on 6 & 7 May 2011.Now the CD is available at itunes and CDbaby and amazon for those of you outside of Hong Kong.For those of you in Hong Kong, the CD is available at HMV and other record stores as well as events organised by The Underground.Attached is Time Out's recommendation, which we're delighted with!So have you got a copy?

And they may very well blow your mind right beyond the Milky Way.
Why the warning? Well, the past three years have been marked by a yearly release of an Underground Compilation CD. And each CD has been populated by some of the best music that Hong Kong’s nascent indie music scene has to offer. Each CD features 11/12 bands, carefully handpicked from the landscape, performing two of their best, original songs. The result is an effective snapshot, frozen for posterity, of various bands as they fit into the music scene at the time, and provides an idea of the staggering breadth of music being created locally as well.
Underground Compilation CD#4 is due to be released in April 2011, and the bands are currently in the process of recording their songs at Mark 1 Music Centre. The CD promises to be a thrilling one, with genres ranging from electronic, to various formulations of punk, to bluesy and jazzy and funky rock. After holding the bastion of live shows through the various Underground showcases, and 3 compilations, CD#4 is yet another step forward for The Underground’s contribution to the progress in indie music. The release will also be marked by the traditional blow-out release parties, so it’ll be terrific fun to add to the exciting music.
So, get ready to cut through the background noise of fascist popular music and go native with Compilation CD#4 – the music scene will be waiting for you when the time of release dawns. And if you’re curious about it, keep your eyes on The Underground’s website: www.undergroundhk.com.

The Underground HK 相信，香港是世界上其中一個充滿非凡活力的音樂福地；因此，我們正籌備第四隻合輯，以顯示香港獨立音樂勢力創作性和音樂人的精神。
我們現正誠邀香港所有的樂隊來參與製作這張唱片，風格不拘；曾經或將會在Underground 演出的樂隊將更加會被優先考慮。惟曾參與合輯第一、二及三集的樂隊則不能再次參加。
每隊樂隊將會灌錄兩首原創歌曲，並收錄在 “The Underground Compilation #4″ 合輯內。錄音過程將會全部在Mark-1 Music Centre 進行，而所有錄音，混音與製作的費用將由 Underground HK 和 Mark-1 Music Centre 承擔。完成的唱片將會在所有Underground 舉辦的活動銷售，亦會分發到唱片店及網上作零售。參與樂隊可免費獲得合輯數張，並以優惠價購買光碟，或以交託形式取碟作銷售。

ATTENTION: HONG KONG BANDS!
We believe that Hong Kong has one of the most vibrant underground music scene in the world today, and, to prove it, The Underground HK is planning to produce compilation CD #4 that will showcase the creativity & musicianship of Hong Kong in one easily accessed
package for the world to see!We are now looking for bands to take part in this project. We want bands of any genre and priority will be given to bands who have performed or who will be performing at The Underground. Bands already on CD#1, #2 and #3 are not eligible.
This project is a joint collaboration with Mark 1 Studios. We are offering bands the chance to record two ORIGINAL tracks to be included and promoted on “The Underground Compilation #4″. The recordings will take place at Mark 1 Studio (live recordings with vocals overdub). The Underground & Mark 1 Studio will pay all expenses to record, mix & produce your songs and include them in the compilation. We will promote the CD and sell it at all The Underground shows as well as distributing to record shops and online shops. Your band will also receive some free copies as well as the chance to purchase more at wholesale pricing on consignment.
