That skateboard in the picture is an electric board. The thing in my hand is actually a remote speed control, and brake. The promoter brought it out for me to try, and I went for a spin around the block several times -out into the street and almost got hit by traffic but I steered just clear. It is super fast and much heavier than you'd expect. It went 20 miles an hour at top speed, but turned like a mule.
We played a fun little club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The dessert hills were just behind the shops and restaurants- turning redder as the sun went down. Everything (birds and snakes) and everybody (Girls and guys; and snakes) wait for the sun to go down. We walked up the street to get a bite to eat, and were offered a ride 3 times. There is also a free trolley rolling by every 10 minutes. It's dangerous to walk outside in the dead afternoon. I started to understand what heat stroke was as we waited for the light to change at the intersection.
Etty wanted to get a bite after the show and decided to walk it alone. I wouldn't let her go without a chaperone. Something about the dessert (No one can hear you scream?) that makes me nervous having her wander off alone, and my senses were correct. When she returned back with wings; she told me that where ever she walked- guys slowed down and offered her a ride (even with sweet Frankie, our super guitar tech.) Next tour- I'm buying his and hers electro skate-mobiles!
