Ahh auditions, performing in public and the nerves.....brings me back memories. :)

To tell you a story, I once took part in London's Fashion Aid (an extension of Live Aid) back in 1987 at London's very famous Royal Albert Hall. At the time I was a child model and worked some stints since I was about 7. I was about 10 at the time I did the show (I did some stints, both catwalk and posters for Benetton too). There I remember the moment going up to the stage. I was one of the chosen models to go on stage with some older guys and I sat on one of these guys shoulders, being paraded around on the catwalk. I remembered this overwhelming feeling of being watched by millions of unknown faces around the auditorium. It was a scary moment (especially when I later found out I also appeared on the news with everyone else!), but it was something that has stayed with me for most of my life. Whenever I think about being afraid of speaking in public or getting embarrassed in front of many people I always think back to that event, that I'd been through much greater things in my life. That I was involved in a live piece of recorded history. As a result its given me huge confidence in how I should approach things in my life.

Most important thing to ever remember is...just be yourself. Just be confident in being yourself when you are auditioning or performing in public....and you'll be fine.
Think of the audience as like.....your friends. There's nothing to be shy about it. You are there to express your inner world for them to enjoy and experience. You should probably feel more exhilerated about it than anything else...and enjoying what you do. That's probably the most important bit. Hope it went well :)

You know I just directed this dance spot and the whole time I was reminded of how important the dancers seeming like they were having fun and connecting with the audience was... they could scrwe up a little even as long as they were flirting well with the audience/camera and seeming like whatever it was they were doing was fun.  Watching the footage back emphasized this even more.  Some girls were doing mroe complex things - but it was always the attitude which sold it.   So... HAVE FUN.
