  • CINEMA MÚSICA! 2012

    Tuesday, May 22, 2012 7:53PM / Standard Entry

This year marked my final edition of the music video program at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Thank you to all who came out to support, especially to all the regulars and Kollaboration! Many thanks to all the artists in attendance and to those who had encouraging words to share with me after the Q&A. I’m glad people enjoyed watching an hour of MVs that I curated for the big screen.

Q&A time with DuNo Tran, Paul J. Kim, Alex Vo, Ross Ching, Daniel “DPD” Park, Josh Kim, and some girl in a Jeremy Lin jersey.

As it is written in this year’s program, the lineup is up on YouTube:

Well, this program definitely evolved over the years. I mostly just wanted to showcase a range of stories told in unique ways while giving recognition to the talent out there. And I’ve been very blessed to have been able to work with some awesome people at Visual Communications, specifically, Abraham Ferrer who was really there to guide me from the beginning and Anderson Le who came in later to help me better shape the program. I dedicate the following video to Abe and Anderson. They were always trying to get me to include some Kpop… and this one ALMOST made it into this year’s program. LOL. You guys are fantastic, baby!

  • World Premiere of UPLOADED

    Thursday, May 17, 2012 12:06AM / Standard Entry

The Asian American Movement, that documentary I posted about awhile ago, is officially premiering tonight at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival! Will you be there? 9:30p at CGV Cinemas.

I know the crew has been working really hard on this project for the last several months to truly capture a movement that has been going on for quite some time. And so I’m very excited to see what they have to show the world and very proud to have had some involvement. This has definitely been a VERY ambitious project, so I’m looking forward to celebrating with everyone involved! Yay-yuh, *cheers* all!

  • LA Asian Pacific Film Festival

    Monday, May 7, 2012 9:47AM / Standard Entry

Opens this Thursday evening with SHANGHAI CALLING. Looks like actor Daniel Henney and comedian Steve Byrne will be making it quite the hapa-ning night.

On Friday night, my music video program, CINEMA MÚSICA!, will be screening at CGV Cinemas at 7:30p. If you can make it, I’ll be conducting a Q&A with filmmakers and artists in attendance after the screening. After that, I’m gonna head to the DGA to see THE CRUMBLES! And then if I’m in the partying mood, I’ll stop by Club Los Globos for some live music and schmoozing.

On Saturday, I’m gonna try to check out HANG LOOSE, SUNSET STORIES, and YES, WE’RE OPEN! On Sunday, I’m prob gonna have to take a break, but I wanna shout out Michael Kang’s latest film, KNOTS. I got to see it at SDAFF last year and it’s def a good film to watch with the fam on Mother’s Day ;]

  • ALREADY GONE

    Wednesday, Apr 25, 2012 1:42PM / Standard Entry

Ross Ching’s latest short film but not-so-short-film premiered earlier today on Wired.com. The reason why it’s not exactly a short film is because it’s actually a clip of a feature film that has yet to be made. I had a chance to chop it up with the two producers of the film and it definitely sounds like some exciting things are cooking. Check it out~
