    western sichuan, on the border of tibet. so remote the details don't even show up on google map. and the massive area is pretty much a footnote in lonely planet (hence still relatively uninfested by tourists). these kids would welcome us as we drove by in our tour bus - we were in a very poor part of the country. they were taught to salute us as we were tourists and would supposedly bring money in.

    always thinking i should be doing more about poverty...

    I just want to hug them and wipe their faces...that's the saddest thing I've seen in a long time. Tibet...I have a lot to say about that...

    i love your pictures of the kids in sichuan. i met a guy who did a doc on the tibetan minority in sichuan once, the baima tribe. it was beautiful.

    Seeing sights like this just makes me want to try to do something, too.  Compassion and sharing are in such demand!  People like Angelina Jolie are trying so hard to bring childrens' plights to the public's eye.  As a mother (or father, I would hope!), you never want to see a child be deprived of food, water, clothing, shelter, and good medical care.

    Enough now...it's kleenex box time!
