Day of Remembrance 2009

I wound up doing the graphics for the Day of Remembrance for the third time.

I've been doing this to help pay the rent of the little basement which J-Town Arts rents, a group I am affiliated.Day of Remembrance is an annual event to commemorate the passage of Executive Order 9066 which resulted in the incarceration of over 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II whose only crime was being of Japanese descent.

I didn't want to do the designing of the graphics for the event this year because I felt the other members of JTA should also do their share.  I wanted Rich T. to do it instead since he was born in the concentration camp.

So... Rich T. and Leon S. put together this card design with Rich T.'s face (above) on it.  I guess the organizer had another image in mind.  When she asked Rich and Leon to redo it, it was like NO WAY!  and just got pissed off and walked away from it.

Unprofessional.  Hey....it's just a matter of rubbing your fingers together and say it will cost this much more to do a redo.  I guess with Rich T. holding a regular job and Leon S. being retired, they don't want to hassle with anyone's quirks.

I guess JTA is not going to have graphic services as a regular source of income.

BONG so...I wound up doing the DOR postcard (below) again.  I was supplied with the photo and I knocked it out in two days, working with the small changes.   I guess I have a lot of patience or I'm just a nice gullible guy.   Being that I've done this for the last two years for JTA, this was not to benefit JTA.

Sorry if it looks a little Chinese.  I'll make sure I will make it to the reception.  They had great food last year
