My Incredible Tale

I was busy with Incredible Tales 6: “The Ride Home” between Monday - Thursday last week. I heard it’ll only be showing on Channel 5 in June 2009, so we shall wait and see. Hopefully by then, I’d be involved in loads of good projects!

The filming was tiring, to say the least. We had outdoor shoots at Pulau Ubin & Punggol. Monday lasted from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday was from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. & Wednesday was the ultimate - from 6 p.m. till 8 a.m. the next morning!

Whew. But I had good fun. And learnt alot :)

Monday & Wednesday - We filmed at Pulau Ubin. It was my first time there, and my favourite part was the boat ride! Beautiful scenery. Windy. Relaxing. Awesome.

Full Moon, beautiful yet mysterious

Wednesday night - whiling away time by the beach

Sunrise on Thursday morning - absolutely breathtaking

Of course, this is all in the name of work. I enjoy my job because I get to do new things, meet new people, experience new situations every single day. I also get to put on weird images, such as the image I had for this show.

There was a running joke throughout the entire shoot that I should stand by the side of the road/the beach & wave at motorists or the Coast Guard. Haha. While I was on the Punggol road on Tuesday night, cars slowed down at our filming site & the passengers stared at me as they went past.

But do not judge by appearances! I am not all I seem to be. Catch Incredible Tales (Episode 1)  next year to find out more! :) I’ve to start promoting my productions, right?

ON THE SET

In a single episode, there’re many different locations we film at. For this story in particular, we went to Pulau Ubin to film at this dilapidated house. The owner doesn’t stay there anymore, and it was “re-decorated” for the show. I really admire the art direction people sometimes, the way they design a set.

**Poor Wendy had her photo taken

Had to get a red packet to “ward off the bad luck”**

For this show, I gave up another one of my “first times”. I rode pillion on a motorbike for the first time! It was fun, even for that short period of time. And I trusted my co-actor, ‘cos he’s a traffic cop by profession. Haha. So he’s probably used to driving fast & safe.

I wouldn’t mind riding a bike again. :)

THE FILMING PROCESS

Being an actor is a regular job, just like being a lawyer, doctor, manager etc. We work in a team for long hours. There’s a process we have to familiarise ourselves with. Get used to the camera, the lights, the sound guy. Knowing how to remain silent on set, and how to hit the right spot. And often, we have to stand in a spot for some time, while the crew busy themselves with setting the right lighting & camera focus.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Filming is a Collaborative Process between the Camera Crew …

The Director & the Monitor - Best Friends :) Haha.

And then, you have the Actor.

Of course, we’re not robots, so we need time off as well. Cast & crew bond during those few short days of filming. As we flit from project to project, we make more & more friends.

Supper Break = Bonding Time!

HAVING FUN - OUR WAY!

Life is not all work, and no play. I caught a few moments of off-camera acting from our cast. :)

**Titanic meets Brokeback Mountain

(a.k.a Brokeback Pulau Ubin)**

**Primero demonstrates the Art of Acting 101.

Step 1: Pick Up The Phone

Step 2: Sleepily Answer “Hello?”

Step 3: Act Shocked (i.e. open your eyes, and mouth, and nostrils)**

**Don’t worry, Primero is a better actor than that! Haha.

This is a better version of SHOCKED.**

THE CAST

At the end of the shoot, what remains are the memories, the footage and the friendships made. I’ve been to numerous shoots & this has been one of the most fun & memorable ones. Especially because of the people I came to know - each special in his/her own way.

**

Wendy & Me**

Wendy is my ex-CG member. Whether a stroke of coincidence, or through God’s plan, we auditioned for Incredible Tales separately & ended up being casted in the same episode. I really appreciated her company through 2 of the days at Pulau Ubin. In the midst of her studies right now, she has decided to explore this acting path. Jiayou, Wendy! :)

The Three Models

These 3 guys really brought a lot of laughter to the production. I appreciated their company especially on Tuesday night at Punggol, when I was the only female amongst the cast & crew. Primero (the one in pink) has been a host on KidsCentral, together with Lucas Chia. He’s also a Singapore Idol alumnus. He has a great smile :) Eddie (the one in blue) has a claim to fame - he was the hunk carrying Briefcase No. 9 on “Deal Or No Deal”, and he’s been on several Channel 5 & Channel 8 productions since then. Wendy & me agree he would look quite at home in the HK entertainment circle. Sylvester is the youngest one, and surprisingly, he can speak fairly fluent Mandarin!

The people you can come into contact with in this industry are amazing and all so multi-talented. Makes me wanna 加把劲 & strive to be the best.

Photo Ops!

Joyce (the lady in the photo on the right) is another amazing woman. She’s a GP by profession, and she has cut 2 CDs! She does acting & singing as a hobby.. One cool lady.

Child Star - Alicia

Alicia & Me

Alicia is a young girl, just Primary 3. In the midst of her exam period, and yet her parents allowed her to be involved in this acting project. Amazing. If only I had those opportunities when I was younger. But Alicia is one talented girl, and still so young.

That Night In Punggol

That Night In Pulau Ubin

Had really tremendous fun over the 3-4 days. And it was an awesome learning experience. And a motivational experience for me too. I began to see the talents of a multitude of people, and that gives me the motivation to keep pressing on & becoming better with each project I take on.

An unforgettable experience, to say the least. Here’s to many other future projects in TV & feature films. :) Jiayou, Laura! Haha.

on Tuesday night. Real cute.
