Christmas & Beyond

So Christmas eve dawned. I spent Christmas eve & Christmas Day in church. Served at all three Jurong West services, doing Mains. I love doing Mains.. A break from being the I/C is good. Haha. I think I’m better at the actual operations than overseeing.. Oops. 

Had a really nice Christmas eve dinner at home. Fondue dinner with sago pudding dessert. Then we had a family games night.. Played Texas Hold-’em Poker & Homo-jelly. Fifteen minutes before Christmas Day, my mother allowed us to open our presents. I got a full Elizabeth Arden make-up set, Dior mascara, Sephora blusher, a bangle & necklace. Yay! My Christmas wish of make-up, make-up & more make-up came true! Just have to stock up on my foundation & concealer for the new year…

Went with my mum to Expo service @10am on Christmas Day. Spectacular drama with flying angels & a unique take on the Christmas story. Pity my friends couldn’t make it. Then I rushed to JW for the last Christmas service! After which, we all got to experiment with the angels’ wings. Hehe.

Had a Christmas dinner with my extended family that day. Got a few more presents: cash, a pouch & a beautiful rose ornament. Also showed them our Australia pictures… which I realise I still haven’t uploaded yet. Oops. When I get the free time.. Haha.

 

PRE & POST-CHRISTMAS GATHERINGS

On 15 Dec 2008, we had our first MGS Class 4A2 reunion. After 9 years, since we graduated in 1999… Being the proactive one, I organised this gathering. We met at Fish & Co., The Glass House, for dinner that night. 10 members of our class turned up, out of 33 classmates. Which is not a bad turnout, considering almost a third of the class is overseas.

Had a party schedule post-Christmas. Probably my busiest party schedule of the year. Haha, since I hardly go to gatherings and parties.

 

So, first up was an invitation to Victor’s house party on 26 Dec (Fri). There was me, and then there were the rest of Victor’s friends, eleven of us in total. We started with appetizers, namely satay, potato chips & grapes (!). Eventually, I convinced them that grapes were meant for after dinner. Haha. The main course was pizza. Dessert consisted of waffle & ice cream, as well as grapes & watermelon.

I met Victor through the film “CUBIK”, and he is an amazing fan of board games, to the extent that he even created a game for “CUBIK”! So for entertainment that night, we indulged in a series of board games, after which we ended off the night with playing Rock Band on his PS3. The good thing about going to his parties is… the ride home after. ‘Cos he lives just across the road from me, so he drives me home. Yay! Even though I don’t really trust his driving. Haha.

 

Second gathering was on 27 Dec (Sat): RJC judokas at Zhixu’s house. We had steamboat & I met up with a few people I haven’t seen in years. Other than the few whom I met up with last year ( 6 Years After RJC Judo), I’ve lost contact with the rest of them. My closest friend in RJC Judo, Jianhao, wasn’t there for the gathering. He abandoned me for another gathering.  *But it’s okay. I forgive you.
* So at times, I felt a bit out of place.

So we had the Judo gals - Liling, the engineer & me, the actor. Liling brought her bf, Faizal, who’s also an engineer. We have the doctors, Zhixu & Qianming, and the doctor-to-be, Guanhong. We have the trader, Jingmin. Yuanyiu brought his gf, Kehui, who’s also a banker. Star-studded cast, indeed. Haha. The next time we gather may be at a radically different setting… During Zhixu’s wedding next year. He’s planning to get married to Aisha, probably sometime in July. And that will mark the first matrimony amongst us.. Amazingly, Zhixu is the first to get hitched, as predicted.

This gathering stirred up many memories. Memories of my JC days, and the foolishness with which I treated my relationships & studies then. If I could live those days all over again with the knowledge I have now, I would definitely live my life differently. If I had not asked for too much, I wouldn’t have got more than I bargained for in the end. So nine years have passed.. But I look back & find that my heart is still the same. Maybe I should let the moment just freeze there, or maybe I should seek out the truth in 2009. I shall go with the flow, I guess. But I really hope to be able to build better ties with my JC friends once again.

 

Finally, I had an AZ Zone Appreciation Dinner on Sunday, 28 Dec. It was onboard the Riverboat, and it was a Mexican/Cowboy/Cowgirl themed night. So I dressed up & went with Wenfu. It was really fun, the food was good, and I got to fellowship with Pst Aries, which was really awesome.
Was nominated for “Best Dressed”, which Eugene Seow eventually won.

After that, Daryl was kind enough to drive me to “The White Rabbit” at Dempsey, where I met the Chorus Boarders & celebrated Tangy’s 20th birthday.

And you can see my cowgirl outfit in the picture above as well. We stuck around till 12plus, gave up on a movie we were planning to watch. Eventually, Sihui was also kind enough to send me home. Feel so blessed this whole week!

 

CHRISTMAS BLESSINGS

Finally (I know this is a long entry!), I was blessed to have the opportunity to “calefare” in a role on a Channel 8 drama. It’s for an upcoming drama entitled “煮妇的假期” (Housewives Holiday)& I’ll appear as a 负责人 (person in-charge) in Episode 1, Scene 6. So I got to appear with Ann Kok, Hong Huifang & Xiang Yun.

Even though it’s a brief appearance, hopefully the company will use me for bigger roles in future. And this opportunity is all thanks to Victor.
