A Life of Dreams

My life has been just cruising along recently. I’ve been thinking much, working a little, believing alot, and doubting a bit. I was fairly busy last weekend, rushing from shoot to shoot, from rehearsal to church and back to a shoot.

One of my shoots for an NYU Tisch student, Kate, was a 2-day daytime shoot at Haw Par Villa. On the other hand, I had overnight shoots at the Chinatown area for a Lasalle student, Genevieve. It was fun in a way - being a sweeper in the day, and a prostitute at night. Tiring, but exciting. And I always savour the opportunity to act.

I was very encouraged by what Genevieve told me on the last night of our shoot. She told me that as long as I keep up the good attitude I have, and not bitch about others, I will go far in this industry. I’m willing to work hard & do my best, but I just need the opportunities to do so. I want people to come looking for me to be involved in their productions.

But of course, I won’t lay back on my laurels & wait for chances to drop into my lap. These few weeks, I’ve had a few good opportunities which I did my best for, and I’m praying for them to bear fruit. Once the auditions are over, it’s out of my natural strength. I can only think, visualize, believe & speak forth in faith that it’s all in God’s hands.

I went to KL for an audition last Thursday.

The American producers were impressed with my determination, and I’m happy to share that they have offered to put me in their production! I don’t know the details yet, but it’s for a TV Pilot. If the TV series is developed, filming will take place in Las Vegas & Bahamas. But I’m not getting my hopes up yet. I’m just thankful for favour with these Hollywood personalities.

I was also invited for a Casting at MediaCorp Channel 8, for an upcoming production. I believe I did my best, given the limited amount of time I was given with the scrīpt. When I emerged after the audition, I didn’t have excess adrenaline & energy, which means all my energy & emotions were involved during the audition. I believe in faith that I will get the supporting role in the Channel 8 drama!

I also went for a Casting for an upcoming Channel 5 drama. I did well, I feel. Now, it’s only up to the Casting Director’s preferences, and whether they feel I have the ‘look’ for the role.

Much competition in this line. I want to emerge as the top. Not for fame or money, but because God has made me the head and not the tail. I feel many others are still above me in terms of experience & skills, so all I can do is work hard. I need to begin exercising, learning vocals, dancing, new languages/dialects etc.

My life is in front of the cameras. Some people ask me if I prefer stage or TV/Film. Many of my friends prefer stage work. But I prefer TV/film. I like the stories & images that can be portrayed through film. I like the finished product which can be played again and again. I like performing in front of a camera.

I’m preparing for two upcoming short films in the coming weeks. For one of them, I have multiple rehearsals, as well as training sessions. I was rolling around the soft floor of a children’s playground on Thursday, choreographing a fight scene with my instructor. I had sore legs for days afterwards. But I enjoy picking up these new skills, and it will be good for my resume. An action movie star! Haha.

I’ve also solved the 5-by-5 Rubik’s Cube a total of ten times, and counting …

I think I’m obsessive in this manner. I love to solve puzzles, and when you give me a task to do, I keep at it until I become good at it. I can solve it within 15 minutes now!

I miss Lasalle, in a way. I miss learning daily with like-minded people. I miss the Acting, Voice, Dance, Movement classes we used to have. I miss the environment. But I’m thankful for the preparation that one year gave me. Now, I just have to improve upon that foundation.

Did I mention we’ll be filming on a yacht for my next short film? It’s real cool. And as a result, I get to be involved in a corporate video for the yacht owners, free of charge of course. But it’ll be fun anyway. I love new experiences.

 

A week of early morning prayer meetings coming up. I’m anchoring the Chorus Board in JW, which means I’ve to report at 6:15 a.m. every morning. Phew! Back to SOT days again. But I’m happy. I know that I’m sowing my life into God’s Kingdom.

I look to God not for the Promises, but because He is my Creator. I’m thankful for everything He has placed in my life. Even if He takes everything away, I’m still happy He gave His Son for me, so many years ago. I love Him. So, I’m determined to shine for Him! Looking forward to a life-changing week.

I speak to the mountains:

I will get the feature film lead role that I auditioned for.

I will get the Channel 5 supporting role that I auditioned for.

I will get the Channel 8 supporting role that I auditioned for.

I will get a meaty role in the American TV Pilot.

I will be offered more modelling & acting opportunities from MediaCorp & other local production houses.

God is not a God who lies. He has given me a life of dreams & passion. A vision that I live for Him. In this Arise & Build period, He will strengthen me, my family, my career, my ministry, my finances & my relationship with Him. My life will never be the same again.

Lord, I sacrifice my life for You.
