SFIAAFF 08 coming in March

http://festival.asianamericanmedia.org/

just checked out the program of this year's san francisco asian american film festival, looks like i'll probably go to see some of the films, including:

a brighter summer day  (4hrs!)

881 (to support AnD's artist)

desert dream (i like zhang lu's previous film "grain in ear")

flight of the red balloon (how can i miss HHH's latest work!)

happiness (hur jinho's work is alway mesmerizing)

the unseeable (like wisit sasanatieng's previous film "citizen dog")

did i miss anything? please let me know!!!

and below are the films i have already seen, either in a fest or wherever i got it:

a thousand years of good prayers (very solid and down to earth!)

terrorizer (saw on dvd long time ago, wanna see again but probably couldnt make it on that day)

yiyi (again, saw on dvd but schedule issue makes it hard for me to go see it one more time!)

traveling with yoshimoto nara (documentary from japan)

blood brothers (...)

death note (i am just wondering why they don't show the second part too...)

a gentle breeze in the village (i like "linda linda linda" more...)

i'm a cyborg but that's ok (i like the vengeance trilogy more...)

slingshot (a rare and genuine depiction of a filipino slum)

general thoughts: the selection seems broad, but how come they only have 3 films for the edward yang tribute!!!!! I want more! where are the old films? those pretty hard to find one (even hard to get in dvd), i wanna see his earlier works! for the three they are showing, i guess most of his fans have probably got the dvd (or vcd), so i guess it would be more meaningful if they can screen more of his early and rare to get stuff!

also, just checked the tentative guest lists, found out that our AnD's artists Daniel Wu, Pamlyn Chee and Michael Kang are on the list (some confirmed some tentative), some other interesting names include Hur Jin Ho, Christine Choy, Wayne Wang, Cora Miao... looks like it is gonna be interesting...

anyone in SF wanna go check out the films together? let me know!!!
