ANGRY and even More APPALLED at a PARENT

Was having my 1st day of my work week on Friday. Everything went fine, until the end of the last lesson.

There's this particular parent who i know dun seem to be paying full attention in class becoz of various incidents. One striking incident which made me knew she was lying was she always complains my attendance file was blocking her son's view. I told her i can remove the attendance file, but for the file that contains my lesson plans, no choice i have to use it and place it on the electone.

Once last time, i was showing my fingering/playing on the keyboard chart which was ON THE BOARD. Then after  finished, she claims she didnt catch wat i was saying, as my file was blocking her. I plainly told her, "I showed it on the board". Straightaway, not only i knew she was not paying attention in class, she was also lying and giving lame excuses for missing wat i taught.

Today was the last straw, she at the end of the class, asked me for the chords which i have been playing EVERY WEEK for 1.5 years for this class. And somemore, this was not done altogether one shot, it was done progressively. Meaning 2 chords in the 1st 6 mths, then add 2 more in the next 6 mths etc....

So after 1.5 years, of lessons and the chords were played EVERY WEEK, she can come back and ask me what are the names of the chords.

I told her, by right in our sch, we teachers are not supposed to just give the notes to the parents, neither should we photostat scores of some melodies which they're supposed to LISTEN, i repeat LISTEN in class. Coz it DEFEATS THE PURPOSE of the learning methodology. She claims her child is weak and she wants to practise at home. I finally gave in and gave her the chords, but i told her, this need not be practised at home, children supposed to LISTEN in class EVERY WEEK. This is one thing, the 2nd thing is how come after 1.5 years, she didn't copy the chords down as we were singing?

So tell me, she said she was appalled by my reluctance of giving her the chords. Is she right in saying that? I tell you, im MORE APPALLED BY HER Learning attitude. Expect everything to be spoon fed in class.

Reverse to olden days, piano teachers would have WHACKED YOUR HAND if you played wrongly. And my Maths teacher said, you can DRAG the deer to the river, but if the deer dun drink the water, u can't force it.

I have SLOWED DOWN my pace already. And moreover, i have helped the weaker individuals in their playing, repeated numerous times if difficult to play for BH.

Tell me, what do you think of this parent's behavior? I really really want to know your opinions.
