Chaired by (French-speaking) English actress Charlotte Rampling and
supported by the City of Paris, the 7th edition of the Paris
Cinema International Film Festival (a.k.a. Festival Paris Cinéma)
will take place in various Parisian locations – 15 different venues ! - from July
2nd to 14th, 2009.
Like the previous years, there will be a few hundreds of screening
(including thirty premieres presented by film crews for some of them)...
Johnny Depp and Michael Mann will be there. Sacha Grey and Soderbergh won't.
... a lot of free events (screenings of the film compilation Retour
de Flamme – rares silent movies presented by Serge Bromberg and Lobster
Films), and for the first time, a vintage cinema trade market: “Brocante
Cinéma”.

There will be also for the first a “Nuit du Cinéma” (Night of the
Cinema) on July 4th, where people will be able to watch movies
non-stop from 8 pm until the next morning.

The Sexy Asian Comedies night: with “Antique” (Min
Kyu-dong - South Korea), “Quickie Express” (Dimas Djayadiningrat -
Indonesia), “Better than Sex” (Su Chao-pin - Taiwan), “The Sperm”
(Taweewat Wantha - Thailand), and the 1980's cult classic “Temptation Island”

Tributes will be dedicated to Italien actress Claudia Cardinale,
French actor Jean-Pierre Léaud, Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang, Spanish
producer Lluis Miñarro and his company Eddie Saeta.

A special focus will be made on Turkish cinema with 40 films screened,
and 20 guests invited (including directors Yesim Ustaoglu and Reha Erdem,
who’ll have their works spotlighted).

With the animation night, Children program will also includes a “Trip
around the world of Animation” with movies from China, Denmark, the UK,
Iran, Latvia, Japan, the USA, the Czech Republic, Russia, Argentina, Poland and
France.

And to finish, the International Competition will propose
independant short and feature films from around the world (fiction and
documentary).
Born in Istres (France), Frederic Ambroisine studied mathematics, then filmmaking in Paris in his twenties. At the same time, he was also trained as a stuntman by the Figlarz Action crew (SCORPION, 36, BABYLON A.D., LARGO WINCH etc.). He started as a filmcritic in 2000 on the website DVDRAMA, which is now one of the most popular French daily e-magazines about movies and DVD. Since 2002, he also wrote in several French magazines specialized in Asian Cinema, including KUMITE, ASIA PULP, MAD ASIA and SCORE ASIA. At the end of 2003, Frederic started to work as a documentary director on the SHAW BROTHERS French DVD collection distributed by WILD SIDE FILMS. He interviewed hundreds of Hong Kong artists and did more than 60 short documentaries between 2004 and 2006 related to Shaw Brothers kung-fu classics, inlcluding THE 36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN, THE ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN, COME DRINK WITH ME, KILLER CLANS, KING BOXER, THE 8 DIAGRAM POLE FIGHTER etc. He also directed a few dozens of short documentaries about recent Hong Kong movies including the INFERNAL AFFAIRS trilogy, ONE NITE IN MONGKOK, P.T.U., DUMPLINGS, S.P.L., DOG BITE DOG... In 2006, he directed INSIDE HO YUK, his first 52-minute documentary (the other ones were 26 minutes or less). He’s now preparing his first musical documentary, ROCK 'N' ROLL GIRLS.
