E.V.E.N.T presents SPEAK UP! on August 4th

Hong Kong’s original artist networking night is back in Hong Kong this month celebrating HK feature film Supercapitalist in New York City. As always, there will be live entertainment and open mic sessions to promote yourself and your work!

We will also be doing castings for the Feature Film 'SUPERCAPITALIST'. We are casting now for extras & supporting roles for the filming during the month of August. Make sure you come & meet Kate Sullivan - Casting Director & get your photo in our casting database.

Trumpet player & DJ Kai Djuric

Kai Djuric started playing Trumpet more than twenty five years ago. Since age of 8 has performed classical recitals and won awards at national music festivals. Since 1995 he has performed Jazz, R&B, Funk, Latin and Big Band music in Canada, States and Europe. In 2005 Kai moved to Hong Kong to perform regularly at JJ's, and has made Hong Kong his home. Kai has produced and directed projects that have performed multiple venues and jazz festivals (including Du Maurier international jazz festival, Toronto beaches festival).

Singer / Song writer “Brighter in the dark”

Brighter in the Dark wrote all of her songs on a Petrof piano acquired in 1989, and has been performing live as a singer-songrwriter in Hong Kong and England for almost a decade. She caught the attention of music-lovers last year after premiering "Full-time Flower", an exciting song about dancing our way towards absolute freedom and transcending all boundaries, including our physical limits. She looks forward to giving an electrifying and inspiring performance on the night.

Performer Candy Lo

Candy Lo was born and raised in HK and is the first HK graduate from London Studio Centre with a BA(Hons) in Musical Theatre, also trained in HKAPA and Belgium. Former singer for Hong Kong Disneyland. Currently a singer, dancer, actress and dance and drama therapist-in-training.

Performing 3 songs and a dance to a spoken word poem.

Singer, Song Writer Jeffrey Anello

Born and raised in America; originally from New York, he has been performing, acting, and singing since a young age. With an intense love for the arts he continues to peruse his passion of music and theatre with writing music and teaching drama. He happily calls Hong Kong his current home and now with new friends and colleges he continues to keep the dream alive of music and art imitating life.

Zachary Wylde Stark

Born in America and raised around the world. He has been composing and producing music and poetry since he arrived in Hong Kong. Currently living in Hong kong he is working as a freelance audio engineer whilst awaiting the commencement of college in the fall.

EVENT is the brainchild of co-creators Roger De Leon and Kate Sullivan who have founded a company as an international and creative hub for artists, designers, musicians, dancers and filmmakers to showcase a broad spectrum of untapped talent. EVENT strives to bring all types of creative media to the masses in its pure and original form.

Amidst the hustle that makes up Hong Kong, this city, and many like it are at the verge of losing the very artistry and creativity that makes it great. E.V.E.N.T.’s goal is to showcase both international and local artists through all available forms of media, in an attempt to salvage and revitalize all genres of existing and budding talent, and bring this to the masses.

E.V.E.N.T. arranges all aspects of a production from bookings to presentations. Along with showcasing talent, EVENT encourages companies to get involved in the arts and use this to help promote their enterprise. Our expertise spans several industries and caters to corporate, entertainment and personal events. We give businesses, artists and private organizations the opportunity to promote themselves through which ever medium they see fit.

E.V.E.N.T. holds LIVE forums each month called SPEAK UP! that allow creative minds from various backgrounds, to come together to workshop ideas network and perform; all in the search for new and budding talent.

E.V.E.N.T. also holds a Hip Hop showcase in Hong Kong called GROUNDED. This event showcases Hip Hop, past present and future, bringing in DJs from all over the city and abroad to play Old School, Funk, Breaks, Bmore and Underground Hip Hop.

Every few months, E.V.E.N.T. hosts themed events, allowing artists from similar backgrounds to be showcased and grow from each other’s knowledge. These events benefit the artists involved, by allowing them the recognition they deserve.

With the growing number of artists that join our community, E.V.E.N.T. also gives the opportunity to teach their talents through classes and seminars. Production space is available through the E.V.E.N.T. office for artists to arrange group sessions or one on one classes to help others improve or learn new talents. In addition to individual classes, E.V.E.N.T. artists venture into schools to share with students, the tools necessary to be successful in a creative medium. Through performances, practical workshops, individual and group teachings, artists use their expertise and real world experience to show students all the possibilities that lie ahead of them.

Serving as an artist’s agency, E.V.E.N.T. gives representation to those in the arts scene as well as allows companies searching for talent an extensive database to find international and local acts.

E.V.E.N.T. engages audiences, stimulates new ideas and enriches the ‘art culture’ within the community. Event will continue to grow and work close with artists, stimulating minds and embracing visions.
