Wake Up Juice – A messy martial arts mashup

A computer hacker must escape the room when three assassins, including a killer clown, come to kill him. An ultra violent action comedy complete with chicken cameo.

We shot  Wake Up Juice over the course of 3 days from March 8th to March 10th using the Red Epic. The location was an old hotel which has been renovated into living spaces. When I first saw the room, I told the director, “There’s no way we’re gonna be able to fit 4 people and a cameraman in here, but they proved me wrong. We choreographed the scene in two days at the Flips N Flops gym, made our shot list, prepped all the special effects, and went at it. After three days, we were done. Tylor, Blair, and Rebecca spent another couple days cleaning the room, because damn… it was messy. I spent those days cleaning my beard out. Eventually I gave up and just cut the thing, since we went straight into filming  Rope A Dope a week after this.

Special effects and makeup were done by George Schminky, who also did all the effects in Death Grip.

Here’s the pre-viz video we threw together, which shows some gags that didn’t make it into the final film.
