  • Hot Summer Days !!

    Tuesday, Dec 22, 2009 1:41AM / Members only

I have been busy scoring a feature film lately along with my buddy Eugene Pao. The film is called Long Hot Summer, directed by Wing Shya and Tony Chan. There are loads of stars in the film like Daniel Wu, Nicholas Tse, Big S, Angela Baby, Jacky Cheung, Vivian Hsu, not to mention 24Herbs boys, Conroy, JBS, Ghost Style and Phat and many many more. I can tell you there are a few surprises. Wing and Tony are great to work with, very creative and positive. It's supposed to be released by Fox around CNY so look out for it. I just hope we can finish this before christmas so I can have a few days off. Anyhow check out the trailer.
  • Born in HK

My wife gave with to our second son last wednesday. Since a natural birth was our plan, we really had no idea when it was going happen but my wife was quite accurate. She had predicted it within 36 hours. She managed to finish a bunch of important meetings at work that morning and felt the labour pains come so she called me and then cabbed herself to the hospital around noon. By the time I got there, she was leisurely checking herself in. She was admitted to a sort of pre-birth ward and I wasn't allowed to stay. It was full of women in various stages of labour all moaning or screaming in pain. There were no seats in the waiting room and from pass experience, I know these things can take quite a few hours so it was lucky that  I had brought my laptop. I decided to go back to my car and do some work. I wasn't allowed in the ward till around 7pm. I managed to write 2 cues for the movie that I am currently working on. Actually very productive as there were no real distractions. My wife texted me to let me know she was fine. She even requested me take her some french toast before the birth. She breezed through he labour pains as she is a tough woman.

By the time I was allowed in the ward which was around 7pm, she was really to pop. The pains were 3 to 5 mins apart. We were at Queen Mary Hospital and they have 10 delivery rooms and all through the day they were full. We were lucky that by the time our bun was baked and ready to come out of the oven, the delivery rooms were quite free. Our plan was to have an epidural and hopefully a little happy gas for daddy. However, by the time they took my wife to the delivery room she was truly ready to pop. I asked her how it felt and she said, basically like you need to take a dump really badly except the dump is around 6lbs.

We are in the delivery room and I have all the sterized gear on including a very unattractive hat. By this time, my wife was in some serious pain. We are all ready for the pain relieving drugs, especially me. The nurses goes on to inform us that its too late for drugs. You can understand we are rather pissed off as we had gotten to the hospital very early for just one thing, pain relieve. I insisted but it was truly too late. My wife said, "its coming down..."

The nurses sprung into action. My wife took around 3-4 pushes and within 2mins, the kid was out. The doctor had not even arrived yet. NO drugs. I am very proud of my wife as I can hardly imagine the amount of pain she had to suffered even though it was short.

We have a new 6.6lbs baby boy now named Matthew. As I am not afraid of blood and stuff, I was even checking out the placenta with the doctor. She explained to me which part was attached to what etc. Very interesting stuff. I wanted to take a picture of it but unfortunately it couldn't. Watching your own child's birth is quite an amazing experience. Both mother and baby came home after only 2 days. Both are doing great so far.

    Flam sucking machine...

This is where they weight the baby etc..

The epidural my wife never got...

This would make a nice addition to my living rooms...

Oh dear... is that mine ??!!

Much better after a few days out of the womb....

  • Red Neck vs Responsible Parent..

    Thursday, Nov 26, 2009 7:23PM / Members only

Have you ever watched Nitro Circus on MTV. Those guys are fucking crazy. Think Jackass with fast cars and motorbikes, trucks, buses, planes, jet packs, go carts, boats, base jumping, you name it... They basically put their life on the line for each take. The petrol head red neck inside me loves this show as I have had about 6 motorbikes and a few fast cars. I love how they trash cars, motorbikes and waste fuel, how burn up car tires to the rim, jump of cliffs and pull a chute in the last minute and constantly cheating death or major injuries. But its constantly fighting with the responsible, environmentally conscious parent on the other side of my shoulder. Maybe they can make a show called Neutral Circus for and use only Toyota Prius instead...

  • Ultra Sound, Haircuts, Fireworks, Gigs, Food etc..

    Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 6:11PM / Members only

I went along for another ultra sound scan with my wife and she is now 8 months so not too long to go. Just hope everything goes well. The baby is so big now that during ultra sound, you can only see body parts like a leg or an arm... this pic you can just see the head and his fist. Its a boy. Recently took my 5 yr old to get a hair cut. He like the mushroom cut look, all he asked for was "straight across in front"... cute. This was his second hair cut every outside of our home....

During the national day, our friend invited us out on a boat and we had a great seafood meal in Sai Kung and then headed out to Causeway Bay area to watch the fire works. It was crazy out in the water. As soon as the fireworks stop, all the boats turn around and hit full speed heading back to their either aberdeen or sai kung. You don't want to be a small boat when  that happens.

Jan Lamb's concert was fun especially cause I got to play guitar on stage instead of pushing buttons. I am certainly not a very good DJ but at least I can play some instruments...

24Herbs with the Pope and below with Jesus... er...

I had to go to my son's school and play games with the whole class. I was pretty nervous, much more nervous then I was before playing guitar in front of 10,000 people. I guess I was nervous that I didn't want to embarrass my kid in front of his 5 yr old school friends.. So I told myself, hey, its only kids ! Anyhow, I played "name that tune" with them.... although I was tempted to play some 24Herbs, I decided to dig up the theme music from Ben 10, Scooby Doo, Sesame St, Mickey House Play House, Elmo, Wiggles and a bunch of others. I am happy to report they loved it... The whole class came and gave me hi 5 after so my son was proud of daddy. phew...

After we did Sammi's song, we performed at the Moov gig which I think has already aired. We also had to shoot her MV which most of the boys had already talked about on their blogs so I'll be brief. It was quite a cliche MV with us standing on rocks and waves breaking around us. Actually I didn't have to do anything at all other than stand around.... It should look quite nice as the director is quite a famous MV director from Taiwan called Kong Sing.

For a friend's birthday we recently went to Caprice at Four Seasons for dinner. I'd been luckenough to have been there a few times and it is certainly one of my favorites. The food and service is top notch. I skipped dessert and had the cheese board. The first pic here is a fruit salad and next to that was a veg salad. Probably the best looking salads I'd ever seen. BTW, we'll be on NOW TV 100 Cooking Ma Ma this coming saturday night and also will be performing at Beijing Club for City Of Nites event.

Wow! Congrats on your pending new arrival! The whole dynamic changes when you add a second one. When I knew I was expecting my son, I asked my daughter what she thought about babies. She said we "should get one." I asked if she wanted a brother or sister. She said brother. Now, whenever she's annoyed with him, I tell her it's her own fault. We just gave her what she asked for =D
