CPH PIX MOVIE BATTLE 2012

Copenhagen's celebration of films international and national is on again. The yearly film-festival CPH PIX is getting ready for a new season of movie madness!

The CPH PIX program not only consists of local premieres of movies from around the globe, but also hosts various seminars with invited filmmakers, events, workshops and parties.

This year CPH PIX has adopted the festival MOVIE BATTLE, a festival that I've enjoyed participating in last couple of years here in Denmark.

Movie Battle is the initiative of my good friend Danish/Chilean filmmaker Shaky Gonzalez.

Shaky actually started the Movie Battle in his own living room back in 2004 with a group of mad film-enthusiasts, the premise was who could make the best short genre-film.

Shaky who has been one of the front runners to bring genre-film into the mainstream theaters in Denmark thought there was too much talk and no action in the Danish independent film community, and so the challenge was given to the Danish indie-world!

Since 2004 the festival has grown out of the living room to bigger and bigger venues and this year CPH PIX has made it a part of their festive program.

The Movie Battle program will be 2 1/2 hours of "super natural horror short-films", an invited jury of prominent Danish film figures will award the best film and honor a best actor/actress. The audience will also have a say voting for "the audience favorite".

I am proud to be a part of one of the productions that made it through the submissions!

I've been reunited with my Eastern Army director Philip Th. Pedersen and most of the Eastern Army team for the horror short EMMA.

EMMA has actually been my first straight out horror film, and I'm looking very much forward to see the finished work with an audience of horror-buffs!

Eastern Army is a post-apocalyptic action-drama. The film has since Movie Battle in Denmark also made a good run on international festivals.
