  • Cranium and humming madness...

As promised a photo of my finished pavlova:

I think I prefer just a normal white pavlova to the chocolate version, but my sister is a choco fanatic, so at least she ate some this time :-).

The yearly Costa-Wong gathering was fun and we basically stuck with tradition and played games until the wee hours of the morning. Our usuals are The Game of Life, poker, mah jong, etc...But this time since the parents were here too, there were ten of us in all and we opted for a round of Cranium. Sort of a mish-mash game with four categories each focusing on different types of challenges. One category had a "hum this song" type thing and it was hilarious. Quick! Hum, "Don't Worry, Be Happy"! Hard right? Well I blanked out and all I could get out was that part of the song where Bobby McFerrin saaaays and not actually sings, "don't worry be happy". So my clue to my poor teammates sounded something like this reads: hum hmm hum, hum hmm hum. Pathetic...yes, but an incredibly good laugh too.

All in all, a lovely night ending with my sis and I staying up even later to continue more of our Lost marathon. Woot!

WOW! The Pavlova sure looks nice! A good baker yea. I had it once but it's just too sweet for me. Can actually taste the sugar texture.. It's the egg white and sugar... you sprinkled cocoa powder on the strawberries? I'll suggest to add some kiwis, pineapple, neutral a bit ;D

haha! i know what you mean...you think you know a song, but under all that pressure you just go blank!

i'm actually the same, i usually don't like pavs cause they are too sweet for me. but you're right, with whipped cream and fruit it all balances out nicely...yuum

Pavlova and Cranium, must've been some night. I'm sorry to say I've never been a big fan of pavlova. Too sweet for me. Mostly cos my mum never adds fruit, just leaves it as is (we buy them from the supermarket). I guess if there was cream and fruit on top, it would balance out the sweetness and I might enjoy it more. The thought of choco flavoured pavlova sounds pretty tempting too. I've never had choco flavoured pav. I only eat choco flavoured cakes and muffins so maybe it's true for pav too.

Cranium. Played it twice when some friends tried to do a twice weekly girls night in at a friend's flat but it only lasted two attempts! It was fun though. We had to do a play all to hum The Simpsons, and both of us who were to do the humming could only think of the Rugrats theme!!! It's so much fun when you manage to guess the craziest things even if the person hinting was terrible at it!!!

This is probably a dumb question, what is a pavlova? A type of cake?

Grr... I'm hungry now. Actually, I think the PROPER way to sing the non-wordy part of Don't Worry, Be Happy would be: wooooo woo-woo-woo-woo woo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-woooooooo..... Err... yeah, that doesn't translate in the written word to well.
