This is my friend Mike Liu, aka the most knowledgeable music/film person I know, laying the smack down on a poor schmoe.

Now I think Mike went a bit over the line with the diss, but generally that's how we geeks do things.

I'm tired of these no-opinions, no-passion blog comments or blog entries. You gotta like, let it be known when you like something, and you gotta be willing to defend your pov, you know? Whether it be something as serious as politics, something as crucial as sports, or something as trivial as Rocky IV's greatness.

That's kinda missing in HK. People are just apathetic here. I post a heavily opinionated music/movie entry here and it gets no comment. I do the same on FB and my LA friends are all over it (some would agree some would disagree, but the point is they'd comment and we'd spark a debate)

If you wanna argue sports or movies or music or art, you best get on the web and do it with someone from overseas.

The best thing is there's an undertanding, a unwritten rule--that a healthy debate is just a debate, and that even if you can't agree or if some heated words were exchanged, you dont let it get in the way of friendship. I destroyed this guy named Eddie Mendoza in a Kobe/Duncan debate back in 2007, I humiliated him so bad that he didnt talk to me for like half a year. But eventually we cool again. We will never agree--but we respect each other cause we both know we just passionate sports fans.

This Mike guy, we've had plenty of battles too. In fact I threw a punch at him in 97. Didn't connect (thank goodness, or else I'd be in prison for murder), and the next day we were eating McNuggets at mcdonalds like it was all good.
