Tournaments!!

Been busy running off to Tournaments for the last couple of months........I am getting ready to leave for the USAWKF Nationals and Team Trials in San Jose.......haha...............not my favorite organization, but they do at least organize for the World competitions.....this time tho lots of the work done by Sifu Li Xu Dong of Kungfudirect....(just a plug!)......great job by the way!  Last night we had the welcoming party for the Nationals...impressive event with lots of important Wushu dignitaries from China and the Asian American Civic Leaders from Santa Clara and San Jose.  It was good to see both Zhao Chang Jun and Zhao Qing Jin......two of China's great  Wushu champions.

Zhang Gui Feng, Gigi Oh, Master Kan Gui Xiang, and Mallee Khow  were all in attendance.  Madame Kan who I have not seen in 30 years....she was one of my first Chen style Taiji Teachers........this year I have seen her 4 times all ready!  Zhang Gui Feng's daughter, Joanna.....will be coming to Cal Wushu in the Fall!

I'll post some more pictures as the event unfolds.....tho if any one out there is near a computer you can log onto Dingdingtv.com....and watch the event live , as they will be streaming the Tournament live for the next two days....so don't miss out!

Couple weeks back I was at Master Tat Wong and Sifu Nick Scrima's event....the Golden Gate Internationals.  It was a good event, but needs more schools to participate.....it drew over 500 competitors....... But 350 of them were from Master Wong's School!  There were all most no Tai chi or Wushu competitors.

Master Wong and Sifu Nick Scrima welcoming the competitors.

The armies of Master Wong......and a few other competitors!

Master Wong introduced his teacher Grandmaster Poon Sing...at 83 he gave one of the best performances of the evening...he was fast precise and solid.  Someone to emulate in your old age!

The winner in the Teenage category!

Master Wong and I go back a long ways.....I met him when he was judging in an Open Karate Tournament  that I was competing in....he gave me a 10 for my rope dart performance.......that needless to say was a long time ago!!

Well, this has been an extrarordinary year...there has not been this many wushu Competitions in the Bay Area for a very long time.....which is good for the sport...with out events like this we cannot promote our art or improve the skills of our  students.......I hope more students and teachers will take part in these events in the future!!

I'm off to class and then the Nationals...cya!!
