Quest for the Best and Tiger Claw Elite

Returned from Orlando awhile ago but haven't had time to blog.  I have been following though the coming political change in American Politics...........so interesting to find that now that we know there's an economic problem....everyone has their hand out for help.  For the masses that's OK....they did not create the crisis.....but for big business.....why do you guys have your hands out??   In what business do you pay people to fail?  the Big Three Auto...should have been making green autos long ago instead of big huge gas guzzling SUV's.........especially in California.........where it seems the so called green conscious public has been buying bigger and bigger SUV"S and RV"s...........and AIG needs another $25 million more??  Well even if you don't want change, it will still come to you!  Further, one should not mix law and religion......if your church doesn't approve of Gays that's your right.....but you cannot write that into law.........especially if you really believe this is a democracy..........no different than the Chinese Exclusion Act!

Well, anyways went to Orlando to help officiate for the Tiger Claw Elite Championships and Sifu Tat Wong's Quest for the Best.  One thing I must say Disney knows money.......the resort I stayed at was cool...had it's own food bar, 3 swimming pools, Disney Store, and showed Disney Movies at night........nice!  The venue for the events was brand new and very spacious, at the new Joston Center.

I stayed at Disney's All Star Music Resort.

One of the three swimming pools at the resort.

The rooms are quite comfortable.

This was our judging panel for the day.  It was good to see Wang Fang again, she's sitting next to me .  She is currently teaching for Young Champions in Michigan.

The Tiger Claw Elite Championships was held at Disney's Wild World of Sports Complex.

Wushu Hand Form Champion was won by Southern Stylist Rui Chen, congratulations!

From Cal Wushu, was Kenny Leu, he won first in Chang Quan and Broadsword.

Kenny posing with new up and coming Wushu competitor from Kenny Perez's Dyanamic Wushu, Adam Munoz, who won the Wushu Grandchampionship.

Alex  Whitlow, was also a big winner, his Choy Lay Fut Form beat all of the hard stylist.

Overall, this was an excellent venue to showcase martial arts and there were plenty of audience....just a bit expensive for athletes and parents.  I hope Disney will considering doing more for the athletes.  On the other side I hope more wushu athletes take part in the Tiger Claw Elites.......it's not IWUF.......but we stay away from organization politics and we are for the athletes.  I am hoping Disney can eventually sponsor a world level international competition.....and they can pay and organize the event!!  I do want to thank all the athletes who did participate, and encourage all of you to bring your friends to future competitions.  Got some complaints from parents about what does a Wuishu Judge look for..........as always it's basics.........how fast, clean, and powerful you look....not just fancy acrobatic techniques....which in head tyo head competition....the wushu athletes found out the Karate Competitors can also do them.......everyone was doing back flips, gaynors, and twists!!  Some Wushu Competitors even had forms that just ran around the ring performing flips, or weapon forms with no technique..............while you need to be fancy in head to head competition.........you should concentrate on Wushu Techniques in Wushu Division. After the finals were over we were off to film for Disney, the Martial Arts Extravaganza........this is a great way to promote Martial Arts.........it will eventually get to the Disney channel, and hopefully to DVD.

Ok, more tomorrow, going to relax....and grade some midterms.......cya!
