More Wushu

Walked into breakfast at Shichahai........and ran into Coach Yu from Hong Kong...it was great to see him.  We talked about the future of Wushu.....and the way things are going their is going to be a push to develop another road into the Olympics....and that's to promote Traditional Wushu.....Collin and Gao Song were not here because they were in Macau competing at a Tradional Wushu Tournament.  This is  sort of what I thought.......with the failure to enter the Olympics there has to be new direction for Wushu........even the Shaolin Monks in the US have said as much....many of their schools are going to stop teaching modern Wushu and begin emphasizing traditional Wushu and Healthy Qigong.  Spent some time also talking to an official here from the British Olympic Committee........they are trying to promote Healthy Qigong as a Olympic Sport.....and to do this they will develop it on its's own separate from Wushu....sometimes this is necessary to break from the politics of Wushu.......Healthy Qigong has already begun setting up it's own World competition and begun certiyfing Coaches and instructors.  For myself, I have already begun to incorporate Traditional Wushu into my program of training..........sometimes during Wushu Class, there are more Bagua students than Wushu students.   On Saturdays,  the Taiji and Taoist Yoga Class has grown from 15 students to close to 80.....so interest in the traditional and preventative health practices are growing faster than the interest in Wushu as a sport.....though this is from my limited perspective.......but if you don't change and adapt....things will not progress.  Anyway, this is some fresh ideas and food for thought.......good to see other people have come to similar opinions.

Unfortunately, missed XieXingfu.......he went back to Singapore and I just missed him at dinner....Xingfu and I go back a long ways........he was on the Beijing Team in the late 80's and Coach of the Beijing Team in the 90's......he now moved to Singapore.  Also, ran into Li Ning Miu.......southern specialist on the Beijing Team........looked fit and had a nice tight crew cut.....and Fu Yang is working in the offices...............gave Coach Wu a call but he has the flu right now.....he hopes to recover enough to be at the Disciple Ceremony on Sunday...hopefully Coach feels better by then!

Today going to spend some time with my Chen Taiji Classmate, Chen Xiang and work on some Chen Taiji........and talk about applications.  But right now we are getting ready to go shopping on Wangfujang............weather's overcast and grey but looks Ok.........cya all!!
