Chinese New Years and the Coming Changes

Chinese New Years is just one week away, but even more exciting is the inauguration of Barack Obama....truly marks an important change in the state of American Politics.........no more back room good old boys running the country......but make no mistake Obama is going to have to fight them all the way....................regardless it is a significant victory for the legacy of Martin Luther King.  Speaking of future confrontations...........confrontations are a favorite past time of Americans........you just have to hold on to what you think is important..............government should cut spending....government should help those who are in need........in the end you have to compromise....cooperate to help the most people possible.....not just the Banks and Ford.......Even in our daily lives we face the same dilemna........I am right and you are wrong.......that means someone has to lose and some one wins.....no one ever feels good this way.........you should instead make people feel llike they are part of the solution....getting in people's faces never leads to harmony!  My favorite example of the classic American resolution of problems occurred on Geary Street....where these two cars were too close together and people could not move........two of the car owners got out to tell each other to move it.............since everyone is right.....they decided that to resolve this situation by starting a fight in the middle of the road...........yeah that really works!! The Taiji way is to have harmonius change that brings everyone together.........it is a synthesis...........dynamic, active and inclusive.  There is no absolute right or wrong everything is relative....except for the fact that change will always occur in the universe, nothing is static or unchanging!  What have you been doing lately??

So far this year,  there have so many request for lion dancing.....I am not able to accomodate everyone......which is good for business.......just too bad I don't have enough young people available to perform..........always a problem as students go off to college.  there was a time I use to go out just with three guys and we would do three shows a day everyday during Chinese New Years...........ahh, unfortunately, we are not young forever, and have to actually work!!

Our second Lion Dance this season was for the San francisco Day School.  Corey, Marvin, Ryan and Lorene played the instruments.

Dale performed the Lion with Ryan, and Jared was the Buddha.

Again, a puzzle was the highlight of the performance.....as the Lion must spell peace ....ping an..............fore the audience.

In the beginning of this puzzle..........the word on the floor is Earth...Tian Sha......the lion has to rearrange the word without seeming to touch anything. We also performed Wushu for the students......Marvin performing the Wind and Fire wheels of Baguazhang.

Corey is performing the Southern Hung Jia Spear Form.

All in all it was a satisfying performance....the students and teachers were enthralled by the performers.......they had not seen anything like this up close....... it was so quiet you could hear a pin fall...........a Gung Chi Fa Chai to the students and teachers of the San Francisco Day School!
