The Wen

With so many talented women working in this industry, we had always been interested in the

creators behind the looks of our favorite style icons because let’s face it, on their off days, most celebrities be looking like Britney (anything-goes outfit: questionably short daisy dukes, Taco Bell bag with large Starbucks in hand.)For mata hari’s fall Winter 2010 Collection, we chose the industries top international stylists from

Japan, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Vancouver, London, and New York to create their ideal bags.

Some of which have been working with Rihanna, Chloe Sevigny, Kristen Stewart, Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, Ciara, Fergie, Rachel McAdams, Chara, Urge Overkill, Mira Sorvino, Zooey Deschanel, Norah Jones, The Kills, etc…

The process was like a creative explosion of ideas that took up to a year to actually finalize and refine to what it is today. So naturally from Hong Kong, we picked Wen who in our personal opinion has one of the illest if not the illest styles in Hong Kong. She can throw an eclectic mishmash of anything on, make it look refined, make you go out and buy the same thing only to find that you look ridiculously like that hobo around the corner from where you live! Basically she looks good in anything but, also has a crazy amazing immaculate eye for all things good! I was thoroughly impressed time and time again with how quickly she could make a decision and just knew exactly what she wanted and how it should be just so. All of which has made the experience of working with her that much better!Wen is a stylist in demand as well as a fashion buyer for exclusive Japanese and Hong Kong brands such as jamHomeMade, Think Silly store, Undercover, etc. She always chooses to showcase her distinctive style in whatever project she chooses to be apart of and we were lucky enough that she participated in this collection for mata hari. It’s been an interesting process to see her vision come to form and here it is at last….The WEN bag:img_7855wen_resized2 So many people including designers make it their life mission to regurgitate designs over and over so Love it or hate it…you can never claim you’ve ever seen a bag like this before!wen_resized31 100% genuine soft cow leatherwen_resized11wen_resized51 We like the lining on the black one with bronze sateen with jet black lace overlaid and finally protected with a thin PU material so you’ll never have the problem of dirty particles flying out of your bag every time you take something out.wen_resized61 With curb chains, zippers, studs, and nickel hardware to balance off the cuteness factor, this bag has a dark fierceness that we love!wen_resized41 The shoulders can be removed and used as coin purses but, we prefer to keep her arms on at all times! You can see how Lucy Van Pelt has been a source of inspiration for Wen from an early age.

But Lucy has never looked this hard or Charlie wouldn’t have put up a fight! In stores Sept 2010
