Eg: He took an umbrella in case it rained. = He took an umbrella because it might rain . 2. AS A RESULT và AS A RESULT OF: a. As a result (+ clause) = therefore Eg: Bill had not been working very hard during the course. As a result, he failed the exams. = Bill had not been working very hard during the course. Therefore, he failed the exams) b. As a result of (+ noun phrase) = Because of Eg: The accident happened as a result of the fog. = The accident happened because of the fog) 3. HARDLY / SCARELY và NO SOONER: (với nghĩa ngay khi...thì) a. Hardly/ Scarely + đảo ngữ QKHT + when + S + V2/ed. Eg: Hardly had he come when he wanted to leave. b. No sooner + đảo ngữ QKHT + than + S + V2/ed. Eg: No sooner had she earned some money than she spent it all. 4. Like doing something và Would like to do something : a. Like doing something: Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói về một sở thích. Eg: I like playing guitar. = My hobby is playing guitar. b. Would like to do something: Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói về sở thích nhất thời. Eg: I'd like to drink some coffee. = I want to drink some coffee now. 5. Not like to do something và not like doing something : a. Not like to do something: Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói về một việc ta không thích và không làm Eg: I don't like to go out with you. b. Not like doing something: Ta dùng cấu trúc này để nói đến một việc ta không thích nhưng vẫn phải làm. Eg: I don't like doing my homework
