wow. blogging seems new to me now. hahaha!
it really has been A WHILE.

anyway, LOTSSSSSS of stuff happen but specifically i wanna discuss this issue.
    --

so, big fan of Justice music video. but the new one, Stress, no comment.
more like. huh. ok. so? hmm...let's google more about it. *think*

Phat has posted/blog the video up a tad earlier than me. ahhaha! but here it is again.

so. this video actually made me go search and wanted to see how ppl respond to it. i just wanted to see how Justice fan will just love it blindly just cause it's Justice music, or they have something to stand up against them. i have to say this MV interest me in the curiosity way. definitely wanted to know more of what ppl think about it.

under youtube comments, results not very positive as mostly are in french. hahaha! (translator? anyone?) but did found this site tht discussed about it.

    The Observers

    interesting comments by 3 person.
    my take:
1- exaggerated? probably agree to it. i don't think anyone can get away with such action. but reason you see what you see? it's a music video. it didn't state as documentary. and as we all know, is there a limit to music video content? purpose? reason? i don't know, but i don't think there is. rules and regulations, of course. but such case? is it wrong? is it inappropriate? *shrug*

to the point the video is exaggerated, i think it's a smart way to say, i can get away with it cause i exaggerated it. so i can say, i didn't really depict the life of the suburbs in paris. i'm creating one and i never state it's true. it's open for you to think what you want to think. so, does this make the music video an art piece? can ppl see it tht way? i sorta did cause i don't really associates it directly with "oh tht's how the parisian suburbs are. i should never go there." nope. it's probably like 'don't judge a book by it's cover'?

agree again to his take on making a buzz out of this music video (look what i'm doing now? LOL), and yes, i'd like to ask Romain Gavras AND Justice duo, "What exactly are you guys trying to do?"

2- young mind, but smart take, esp on the one tht state this is to bring up the subject, to create a debate. not so sure about who's right or wrong on this. thus, another interesting take on the power of internet in today's media, nothing can really be ban or censored.

so tht make me question, where is the limit of the world wide web? is it going to be like a black hole? *wow* don't take me wrong. i like the internet. i get access to many things i can't reach. but probably parental control is necessary for proper content choices.

3- agree. young minds are easily influence if parents are not around for guidance. man...humans are complicated. is media complicating these issues? if there is not media, can the parents guide their children better? i don't think so. i guess we all should just know how to balance things.

also, i personally feel, one will know once one experience things oneself. sometimes, we just need to go through tough stages to get to the easy stage. heck! there are different sets of levels in video games too! and video games are created by human! so? ahhaha! i'm going way off. but my point is, yea. life. learn it the hard way, be blessed with the right way, open to see both the hard and blessed way. (does tht make any sense? LOL! to me it does...)

    anyway,
    some google-d results:

    Kenye West Blog
:: comments here are just so bias to me. 1- it's on kenye west blog. sorta like ok he's the celeb, i gotta follow his lead since he blog about it. but did he leave any comment for the blog? nothing. just the MV. erm what's the difference? it's on his blog instead of youtube thus the results in 'love it'. 2- it seems Justice is the 'hot shit' now. so. following the hot shit footstep?

    The In-Between Blog
:: i like his take on this video. esp this sentence–"...but by the end of it the viewer itself becomes as a victim to the thugs’ rampage." i also like his reference of french bizarre-ness (as i called it..haha!) in content for the film Man Bites Dog, and La Haine. i've seen Man Bites Dog but didn't finish it. interesting but not sure the purpose of the movie. just like this music video. is there really a purpose? or just to create a buzz? a debate? how bout influence in the young minds tht are viewing them? parental control on MV?

would like to hear more ppl take on this music video. filmmakers? musicians? any voice?
it's also state it was released on the same week Grand Theft Auto IV is being release. promo purpose? is it all about today's marketing world we live in where anything or everything everyone does has to be for some money making, buzz reason?

all and all, i have to agree tht the music video does convey 'STRESS' as the title state. the sound itself is stressful enough, and by adding the visuals, bam! so, tht's my take of Justice making this video just as simple as an art piece. it does express what the music is trying to tell us. after all, a feeling is always hard to express in words or visuals. being in the creative field myself, i want to applaud to Justice in transmitting the feeling of stress successfully through sound and visual. tht's the only part i appreciate for this music and video.

to go all the way back, i have always question this duo reason of naming themselves Justice and using the cross as a symbol. in marketing point of view, smart choices. the symbol, the name definitely create a topic to anyone tht talks about it. in music point of view. no comment. in artist point of view, no comment but it's a fun symbol/idea/concept to play with. lots more buzz will be born from this idea/concept! go Justice! hahaha!

also...does this video degrade (not sure if this is the right word to use) Justice popularity status as the great electronic grandchild of daft punk? will Justice really do tht to themselves? not sure. but def will have lovers and haters out busting opinions. buzz it is. buzz it is.

    alright.
    back to work. haha!

please, love to hear some feedback! if anyone still reads my blog! hahaha!

I would tend to agree with what Jaine said on this.  It almost says that it's okay to behave this way as there is no consequence for their actions.  Part 2 maybe?

can't say I like it, I guess because there was no consequence for their violent behaviour.

I understand there is a msg in the vid but they haven't really concluded that msg

QCJ626 - nod. if only viewer can differentiate what he/she see like you do, media will be fine with showing whatever it wants. let's just hope young kids who watch this will think, "nah, this is just story telling." plus, i'm sure directing and editing are involve in the music video.

JoanneSanderson - yea. agree on young minds will think this is really cool. tht's the only massive bad side of this music video...viewer cannot interpret the content/purpose/idea of the music video correctly.

janechu - respect your point of view.

peachey - i don't disagree either. this is when i think the importance of parents guidance is crucial. seriously crucial.

for me in a way i thought some of the things you saw would make you angry in a normal scense, but then i thought to my self again this is a music video, and i started to look at the story its telling and the video it self. thought it was interesting. and i would call it art.

but long as shit like this dont really happen on the streets... haha if so... may some one bring down the cold hard steel on these people... lol

It's a good video that shows what young gangs are like and it needs to be seen, but I do think that it will cause some kids to look and see it as cool to be in a gang terrifying people. To be honest I don't like the video, it seems to stylise the 'coolness' as they don't get punished, but I think the filming is well done.
I always said media should not be to blame, but nowadays it's changed from when I was younger, and it plays a big part in influencing eoung minds and unfortunately this video will make them see gangs as cool.

I don't know how to answer this... but yes I think media plays a part in it, but not all of it... I agree with what you said that there needs to be a balance in things... *shrugs* I saw the video on Phat's blog and didn't really like what I saw...

I didn't listen, just watched the vid.
Roaming gangs of no-gooders. It looks easy to harass people, doesn't it? 30 seconds of harassment and they're gone. Yet they leave so much emotional and/or property damage. And youths (and maybe not-so-young indiv) up to mischief like to push buttons, like to see how far they can go. There are a lot of provocative things on the internet. People blame the media for encouraging violence. I don't disagree with that.
