My blog

  • Finally using this

    Saturday, Jan 15, 2011 7:20PM / Standard Entry

I signed up for alivenotdead.com awhile ago, but didn't do much of anything with it.

Now, I'm shooting "The Man with the Iron Fist" and in talking to an actor, Darren E. Scott, he told me that alivenotdead.com is a great resource for entertainment professionals here in Asia. So here I am. It's gonna take me awhile to get this thing up to speed, so hang tight.

First thing is to find a way to import from my other blog on my website: www.yoyao.com/blog

Below is also a short film that's been one of my most favorite projects ever: A Thousand Words directed by Ted Chung. The press and legs on this short have been amazing. Hope you enjoy it!

  • I’m an “Asian Star”?

    Saturday, Jan 15, 2011 10:31AM / Standard Entry

So I just found out that I was featured on a Spanish blog featuring "Asian Stars." I don't know if I feel like a star, but it's very flattering to say the least. Below are links to the page translated and to the original version. Looks like they just grabbed all the info from my website and the resume. They have "A Thousand Words" there and another short scene I shot a long time ago. Maybe it's time I update my website too?

Just amazing the legs on "A Thousand Words!"

This is in Glendale, California. I used to live in Glendale too, so it brings back memories…

I'm not sure what language this is, but I still understand the story hehe

  • Yet Another Chinese Remake

    Friday, Jul 9, 2010 10:00PM / Standard Entry

It appears that it's a Central Academy of Fine Arts student film. Looks like they have the same shots, but a different ending…and a very interesting bike indeed. My thoughts. I think it's great that people really like A Thousand Words. I appreciate that the short has moved people to remake it. I just don't appreciate how they rip off our work and use almost the same identical shots with no mention of the original work they just copied. If you watch it, you'll also notice they use the same background sounds in the first half, but then add in their own track in the second half. Their sound/music is also really loud (maybe to cover up for Chanda's score?). They had opportunities to really make this their own, but I don't think they took that opportunity. Maybe it was the goal of the project? Take something and just create a different ending.

    Here it is:

    What do you think?
