Just a brief update on me, go ahead and skip if you don't care. =P
Been reading a bit. Started on this from the lib, it's my second to last book from the previous trip:
It's pretty interesting for a slow thriller. Basically, so far, it's about an artist who is a bit different, emotionally, from most people, the things that happen to him, and his indifference to them. Said artist has a patron and is staying in a mountain cabin that the man owns and, interestingly, is freshly out of prison for murdering a man, a crime he refused to deny even though he could have easily won a self-defense plea.
Got a couple of new CD's:
Prince - Symbol:
Yes, this is the album where Prince introduced the symbol that would later become his name.
Probably Prince's second greatest album of the '90s (following Diamonds and Pearls closely and falling in front of The Gold Experience). This album is filled with gems from the amazing "My Name Is Prince" and the Reggae inspired "Blue Light." I'm particularly fond of the tracks entitled "7" and "Love 2 the 9's."
Most of Prince's work, '90's and on, is labeled by most as not worth listening. I attribute some of this to the whole changing his name to a symbol thing. I honestly think that this album shows Prince's flexibility as an artist, lots of New Jack Swing, Raps, and that Reggae track that I mentioned earlier. If anything, at least it's better than Souljah Boy.
X - Los Angeles
Aside from having one of the best album covers in history it's a really good punk album from the LA based band X. I think I posted this video earlier, I really like John Doe's voice:
I thought when Prince changed his name to a symbol, that he had lost his mind. I never even listened to this one, but I was wrong to assume. I think I'll check it out. =)
