  • rocking out! Bruce Springsteen! and ilLogic

WOO! The last few weeks have been hectic for me, to say the least. I've come back to San Francisco, moved into my new apartment (with some AWESOME roommates), got a new computer and some new software, started classes, and helped a friend move into his new apartment. This on top of having to look for a job again (will I ever find one?!?!?) leaves little time for blogging and saying hi to everyone.

That said, I have been having a lot of fun with my life, despite all the crazy stuff. Living on your own is invigorating and nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be! Sure, you've got a bit more responsibility but I get to eat ice cream for dinner without getting dirty looks anymore!

Anyway, the new mac is working out great, I like the OS (not as much as windows XP....I had sooooo much custom stuff for XP) but still cant get past a few minor things in it. I suppose I'll get used to it eventually though. Can't wait to get bootcamp and XP running on this baby though, perhaps Windows 7 will run as well.

As much as I'm enjoying playing with OSX, I can't get to grips with Logic (which is the software I'm using to write tunes, DUH!). It looks really pretty though.

My problem is that I can't do things the same way I did in either FL Studio or Reason. Its a lot like Cubase in some ways, but I was way less baffled at the way cubase was laid out. Anyway, I'll just have to read the manual and practice a bunch with it.

Thats all for now I suppose, will update later when I have more time.

    Edit:

Also, Bruce Springsteen rocks. That is all.

Anyone remember this tune? The lead singer plays bass for Oasis now.....

    Ride - Vapour Trail

    First you look so strong
    Then you fade away
The sun will blind my eyes
    I love you anyway
    Thirsty for your smile
I watch you for a while
    You are a vapour trail
    In a deep blue sky

    Tremble with a sigh
    Glitter in your eye
You seem to come and go
    I never seem to know
    And all my time
Is yours as much as mine
    We never have enough
    Time to show our love

amazing album, its actually really cheap right now.

If we could have focused exclusively on "Jasmine," it would have happened a lot sooner. But we each had to make a living and, as I'm sure you know, that doesn't leave a lot of time for personal projects.

I like your self-proclaimed....I`M AWESOME. haha except your butt. The stuff I get is from Sam`s Club in giant packs and I swear it`s not like elementary school toilet paper...like crinkly paper sandblasted with shards of glass. But it ain`t sexy either. Sorry. I am always proselytizing about cheap alternatives.

It really depends. I work with UNIX most of my work life, 14 years plus from system engineer to network and now software engineer and I'm talking AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, etc not the GUI Linux flavor. It's understandable for most not liking Unix because it's not meant for household, consumer OS anyway. Honestly, I wouldn't and I still need my Outlook, my PowerPoint, Visual Basic, etc. but when you're talking about database that hold sensitive data for a bank or backbone of the internet, it's a different story right :-) For enterprise apps, it just the way it is. With my Mac, access Unix utilities are so much easier but with XP, most of my development tools are more compatible. I learn to be more flexible after years of working in this industry.

I know how you feel. I can't never move away from CA., not even to SoCal either. I literally kiss the ground when I move back here from Washington state a few years ago. Last year, I almost moved back to Boston, my hometown with better option for advancement and school but I just couldn't make that full move. I'm glad you back!!!

oh you bought the ozu collection..it is great, i mean, i love most of his films. but somehow i think you can get the hk versions tinstead, image quality is probably not as good as the criterion ones, but these films are old, so the difference probably isnt too big, and the hk ones are much cheaper..

D., the trick is that I picked the breed carefully to fit my lifestyle. Each breed has its signature personality. Shih tzu in general don't bark and easy to train as long as you persistent with the training. It takes me average of 6 months to train my new dog but once I discipline them, they turn into angels. I can't handle dog that bark, jump, chew, etc. Elmo don't even go into my room unless ask and never get on furniture or jump on guests. He's extremely lazy which help so much!!! I'm even more stubborn than the dog so they give in eventually...hahaha. How is life in Oregon?

Same here but then again, I'm only using the shell, not so much of a GUI person so it doesn't bug me too much. There's really not much that can impress a sw engineer if you know what I mean...

I know it's Linux and so does MAC OS and a kazillion Linux based OS out there like VMware has theirs, IBM has theirs, etc? Although I'm interested to see what they come up with, I rather stick with traditional, core Linux operating system. I still favor RedHat because most of my usages are work related on the enterprise level. Home use, I think Mac OS is perfect....why mess with the stable right :-)
