Well, it's been a while since I've blogged. So, the latest: I've given up on culinary school. It's very expensive, and I had some issues getting funded. That led me to more thinking on it, and the result is I'm not going. Cost, both for tuition, as well as commuting, trying to keep the roof over my head as well as food on the table, needed a new car, and it wasn't long before it all seemed a really bad idea. I also enjoy cooking too much, and think I'd grow to hate it, if I had to do it for 10 or more hours a day.
So, I'm still at Target. I got rid of the Intimates department, and now have Menswear, Boys and Girls. It's got to be better than bras and panties, right? Although the future is very uncertain. They that due to restructuring, we will lose 3 team lead positions in my store. And that 'at this time' these cuts will take place through attrition. So I asked, what they meant by 'at this time.' Now they're all cough cough, and stare at their shoes. So I may have to make a career change, anyway.
Saka got spayed, still have to get Dorje done, soon. She wants very much to go outside when it's nice, and I can NOT have kittens in the house. Although I'd love the little buggers, my house is fu-u-u-ull!!

Well, sitting here, feeling yucky, and looking down the 4-0 birthday, in 5 days. Blech!
Had Dorje to the vet for her shots. She was very good, as expected. She has such a sweet nature. Her little sister goes in 2 weeks, for shots, and both are going for their spay the first week of December. I'm trying to get things taken care of, as I'm planning on going to culinary school in January. It's very exciting, but a bit scary as well. Embarking on a new career at my age is always a bit unsettling.
I am looking forward to leaving the Tar-zhey. I'll go part time, for a while, but I'm stepping down as team lead in January. I'll try to find a food-related job then, as well.

Well, the trip to Ohio to the Temple was as good as anyone could ask for. The teachings from Khenpo were very good, and I did get to make a second trip back for an Empowerment on the Tuesday following. Good to be there, and extra good to see the other members of my Sangha.
The hotel was okay, nothing extra special, but that was okay. I needed a shower and a bed. The pool was warm enough for a bit of a swim, the shower was adequate, and the place was generally clean.
Kittens are getting so big.
Don't know how that happened . . .
Saka and Dorje are a pair of little hooligans, and I so enjoy the chaos of kittens.
Finally figuring out this blog stuff. Had absolutely no luck the other evening, making a new entry, but I seem to have it down, now.
Just watched part one of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's teaching on the 4 Noble Truths. Very interesting. And it definitely explains some of the things I've not known. I also have started reading "How to Liberate Animals . ." by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. The anecdotes are great, and the practices will surely help the animals in my ken to attain a better rebirth.

Well, here goes my first pathetic attempt at blogging. For those of you from the old Jet Li board, this is old news. . . .But I'll give it a go. I have a houseful of cats. I'm up to nine, now. I had a lovely calico/tortoiseshell kitten that showed up at the end of May. An absolutely lovely personality, and a welcome addition to the flock. Didn't need another cat, but she was starved and flea-ridden, and really needed a good home. About 6 weeks later, I found a little tortoiseshell kitten on the edge of the road, just down the road from my house. I picked her up and took her back to the house she came from. But after seeing the conditions there, I promised myself that if I saw her again, she would just come live with me. I found her and her litter mate curled up in a ball, on the road, 2 days later. I stopped, snatched her up, her litter mate ran into the weeds, and I headed back to the car with her. As I was getting back in the car, another car came the other way and would have ran her over. Her eyes were crusted shut, and she was very skinny. So, welcome to number 9.
She's a little character, and has gotten kinda chubby. So now I have 4 girls and 5 boys. Sheesh. I had another kitten come into my house a couple of weeks ago, and she was quite the sweetheart. But she turned out to have feline leukemia, and I had to have her put down. I now have to get the little ones tested, but their contact with her was minimal.
Got promoted at work, so I'm now a team lead at Target. It's pretty cool, with the raise, but I'm spread kinda thin now, with 2 departments that I'm responsible for. I have menswear and intimates.
I'm a Tibetan Buddhist, in the Nyingma tradition. I belong to a Sangha in Akron Ohio, which is a bit of a drive for me. I go to Temple when there is a visiting Khenpo or other teacher. I wish I could go more often, but it's sort of hard. There is a visit next weekend, and I'll be attending. I'm getting kind of excited about the trip. I'm having a tough time with picking a hotel, though. One web site says that hotel "a" is a fleabag, and website "B" says it's an okay place for the $$. I guess I'll just have to pick one, and live with it.
