  • My Favorite P.B. Character = Alexander Mahone

    Sunday, Sep 21, 2008 6:56AM / Members only

The most popular character on P.B. should be  Michael Scofield with no doubt. But ever since the character  ''Agent Mahone" was introduced to the series in the premiere episode of the second season, I just couldn't get my eyes off him.  He's as smart as Scofield but the scenes with him are way more heart-catching to me. As whatever happens to Scofield, I know he'd get it over with in the end anyway. But Mahone has his weak points. I would get really anxious if he has to deal with some kinda intense situation. I guess I'm obsessed with his character -- cold exterior and damaged beneath. And the guy who's playing the role, is extremely convincing and heartbreaking.

Well then I decided to do a little digging into this actor. I've searched 'William Fichtner' on the youtube (where I've wasted enough of my time =P) and got to see some of his clips from other works. God you wouldn't believe it's the same person behind all those different roles. Another thing I found is I should've recognized his face from several other movies I'd seen (Perfect Storm, Crash, etc.)....no wonder I thought he looked somewhat familiar.  But he's no longer a stranger when appeared in one of the recent hot sellers 'Dark Knight', although only during the first 6 minutes. You know what, even through a small part like that, he's able to deliver an awesome performance which totally blew my mind. This guy can really be whoever he wants to be. Isn't that the greatest part of being an actor?

I still remember in one of his interviews, when the host asked him to choose between being rich and still being able to do art but with no celebrity or a life with richness, art and celebrity, he said, "Celebrity is always flattering....but you know, if I had to pick one of the three, I'd say you go for the thing that makes your heart feel good, the art. And throw a little money in that, then you're really happy." I believe the words came out of his heart, as you can easily see how the man dedicated in every small part he got. Oh, and who said that 'there are no small parts, only small actors'? It has been proved.

From the very moment  that Mahone took the mission of  manhunting the escaped prisoners till now he actually turns into one of them, all the way down he's becoming the major reason for me to catch up on P.B.. I wish the character would stay alive as long as the show lasts. Go Mahone.

  • I'm back to ALIVE blogging!

    Tuesday, Aug 26, 2008 12:19AM / Members only

After leaving my blog alone for 1 year,  I suddenly made a decision to bring the vegetable back to alive. The only thing I know is that my wierd and unexpectable mood change, again,  is playing a role as injection of magic medicine here....no idea how long this shot could last though.

Not much has happened in the past year except for my trips to the States (for conference) ,  Italy (for summer school) and China (for summer vacation). The trip to US is my first international conference and I got to present my paper. I thought I was gonna be so upset that I would lose my mind during the session but fortunately, everything went well. The conference was held in Savannah, a small town near Atlanta in Georgia State. It's a very peaceful and relaxing place. There is not much to see but ideal for lazy vacations. And again, I have to say, food is so cheap in the States! My colleague and I went out exploring restaurants every night. No matter it's Japanese, Mexican, Italian or of any other types, all of them served delicous food and  the quality price ratio was very satisfying.

I took the trip to Italy late this May and spent 5 weeks taking summer school in Rome. It's very interesting experience to meet new friends working in the same research field from all over the world and get to know them. Just as I heard many times before I went there, Rome is unlike any other places on earth. Behind each architecture, statue or painting, you'll find the history is just too long to read and remember. Unfortunately, I happen to be a big fan of galleries and museums. You can imagine how tired I've got during my stay in Rome. After the course is finished, I took a few days to visit several other cities by myself. It was not my first time travelling alone but this time I felt all fresh and more excited. I went to Pisa (for the famous leaning tower), Florence (for the great atmosphere of art) and Venice (for the romance of life on water). Those days could be called 'days of adventure' because I got lost very often even with maps.

No doubt the last trip is my favorite. I had a really good time with my family and also spent some time to meet with some old friends. Just a few days after I came back, and I miss them already!! I think I should start to plan my next trip home very soon. No Kidding.

Last but not least, I wish I haven't lost all my friends here. Dear friend, if you still drop by once in a while, come give me a shout!!

  • When can I be back to alive?!

    Monday, Aug 20, 2007 10:10PM / Members only

Have been suffering from insomnia for 2 months...my own experience proves the real nightmare is the unability to fall asleep. Music couldn't help this time at all . And wine, which worked the first day, failed the next day. The next candidate....lavender essential oil? I need something sounds really magic!

  • Should uncertainty be hope or risk for me?

    Monday, Jun 11, 2007 3:44AM / Members only

Theoretically, the answer would be a 50/50 mix of the two possibilities. It’s not surprising that people actually have different leanings on this, just like any other two-sided coin questions. To optimistic people, uncertainty means there’re always opportunities to improve and make things happen in a nicer way than what already exist, while passive ones would be more likely to consider about the possible risks that uncertainty could bring them.

It’s only about half a year ago when all I can see from uncertainty are hopes. Things change so quickly. Now, looking at the same world of uncertainty, I feel frightened, because any of it can lead me to end up with a miserable situation.

Maybe it’s due to my getting in touch with a bunch of old friends in the past couple months, who I haven’t talked to for years. And this meeting and exchanging with my classmates way back in high school suddenly made me realize I could be the unhappiest person who has nothing of my life in certainty. I’ve no idea about eventually where I’m gonna settle down, who’s the guy I’m going to spend my lifetime with, when I’ll meet him, what’s my career path gonna be like….I’m at nowhere. I have nothing real grasped in my hand. It’s pathetic, isn’t it?

Or it’s only has something to do with my being a little down these days because of the recent work pressure on me or because of nothing (for the record that I usually handle pressures quite well). I can get really emotional at some point. Without any specific reason, my mood against time could be plotted as a perfect sine/cosine waveform with a rather high range. Well, it just takes time to ease the inexplicable depression.

Anyhow, time will let those uncertain things unfold in front of me sooner or later. I really should worry less about the future and work harder on every single task at hand which, to a much greater extent, could be controlled by myself.
