  • My 24th Birthday

    Thursday, Aug 21, 2008 1:24AM / Standard Entry / Members only

The big, old 24. In chinese astrology this year is my FAAN DAI SHUEY year. So I should expect a lot of bad luck and bad omens this following year. But to me, this is a turning point. a change of direction in life, luckly for me I now have a good enough reason to stay in Hong Kong. These 9 months in Hong Kong have been a hard and rocky road but its been a great experience.

Now looking forward into the future , I have now got to decide wheather or not to stay here for 6 months and then go to Shanghai or just leave by the end next year.

But anyway, moving on I'll be having Pre-  Birthday drinks at California Bar and then heading into VOLAR. Hope to see you guys around. If not  then hopefully see you guys in DRAGON-i on Sat.

  • Chinese massages: Their,weird Terminology...

    Monday, Jul 28, 2008 12:56PM / Standard Entry / Members only

I am totally addicted to Chinese Massages I go to Happy Foot on a weekly basis to do a full body lymph Massage. Reason being is because I have extreme back problems due to excessive work in the past, traveling and lack of sleep.

But I find it amazing how they seem to know exactly were to massage and I find it absolutely invigorating when I'm done with each session. I tend to ask the masseuse were the muscle pain comes from and their theory is lack of sleep, sleeping on the wrong beds and bad toxins in the muscle. They use a term in which I have struggled to translate in English for awhile:-(Lo Shuen) meaning when part of your muscles is damaged.

    Well, the masseuse suggested on my next massage session I do a;
*( Bat gwun):- Which is a plastic round cup like thing that is placed on your body and it sucks out all the toxins out of your core muscle groups . "But doing this therapy on your body you'll end up with big round bruises all over your body and it takes weeks to heal."

    OR do

*(Gwat Sa):- Its when they get a plastic thing and they scrape you skin hard until it goes purple on some parts of the body.  "It goes purple in these places beacause you have toxins in the mucsle so scraping the skin gets the shit out?" Eeeeekkkk......!!!

I hesitated at the thought, so I decided no way!. I think I rather opt for Methyl Salicylate patches,

I find that the Chinese have thousands of years of knowledge and, experience in Chinese medicine and  acupuncture. They know how our bodies work.  But how on earth did they come up with these weird terms? Are these even prober words? I have tried on numerous occasions to find out more information on these Chinese Massage terminology but there is no such information given English.

How on earth do I explain to my French friend, you have (Lo Shuen)..........

  • Home, Sweet Home..So why leave?

    Wednesday, Jul 16, 2008 3:25AM / Standard Entry / Members only

Its Ironic!....Throughout my life I have tried so very, very hard to leave UK. I've always dreamed of living and working in Hong Kong. I came here in 1999 for a holiday and , (smack bam!#) I fell in love with the diverse City.

I' ve been here in Hong Kong for 8 months now and I suddenly I miss home.  I was browsing through one of the "AnD" members page and I came across her beautifully captivating pictures of London. And  I started reminiscing of all the happy and sad times I had in the UK.  I think this being my first time leaving home to work abroad it might come across as a culture shock ,to me.  So I'm trying very hard to adapt to the culture and language here in HK.

  • How I LOVE A.R.T@The Tate Modern Gallery

    Wednesday, Jul 9, 2008 1:28AM / Standard Entry / Members only

Looking at some old photo albums and I came across an album that I would like to share with everyone.

Last year me and my friends and friends of friends. Took some pictures at the Tate Modern Gallery in London. People have their own opinions on Art or what they classify as Art.  Art is is expressed in many ways through Painting, Drawing, Models and sculptures. ART is controversial in contemporary philosophy. To define it, would be a controversy aswell. They say its a very complex form of human expression. Artists are expressing a significant part of themselves through ART, their showing you how they see it from their prospective.

How do you feel or think when you see these kind of pics?. Would you call it A.R.T? Or a plane, right waste of space?.

Just for this 10 Minute stroll up the stairs,to shake hands with the HeadMasters and Lecturers who put you through 3 years of hell, head ache and stress related symptoms. And in the end of the Graduation all you get is a 5pence worth piece of paper!. Framed in a cheap frame worth $5 dollors. So I'm asking you guys now, was it worth it?, HELL YEA!"
