Chinese Gold Medalists Olympians HK Visit 30 Aug 2008

Just some of my many photos of the day. I was extremely happy as my wife was there with me too. Once in a lifetime chance to see all the Gold Medalists of the Chinese Olympic team of 2008.

ALIVENOTDEAD LABEL @ TST

Yesterday I went to TST's Canon headquarter to check some stuff out. Upon leaving and going to a friend's camera shop, I bumped into Danny Chau and family. Ending up having a drink with the family and had a nice long chat and catch up as Danny is very busy normally.

It was a really nice bump into as he normally slaved away zenly at HK island side.

Anyway, as we were about to part our way we bumped into a really familiar sticker on a electric cable box where no one supposed to stick or scribble anything on.

I had my beastly EOS 1Ds III bagged up and didn't bother to any shots even though the label is asking to be photographed.

Danny actually had his really small compare to mine Leica M8 and took a few really nice shots. After comtemplating a little while, I decided to take some photos of it and here is one of mine to share with you all at ALIVENOTDEAD.

It was a wonderful afternoon as the light was really perfect for some of my ongoing TST shots.

Walking past Time Square, Causeway Bay yesterday and took a few shots of Moses Chan. One of my favourite TVB soap star.

It was an art show opening outside Time Square. Oops - missed the artist - apparently he does a lot of charity work - see last photo.

Watching TVB's advertising award for 2008 now and saw Uncle Man 文叔 won the best Male Actor is so happy.

I voted online for him because the Ad story is truely real touching.

Uncle Man 文叔 is actually a disable person (I think with speech and low IQ problem) but treat his job / customers with real kindness and responsibilities.

The spokes person when receiving the award together with 文叔 Uncle Man said that the ad story was made based on a real story PRAISE letter from a lady customer to McDonalds about Uncle Man 文叔's kind and happy working attitude even though he is disable.

I cried when I was Uncle Man 文叔 talked on the award ceremony too. Looking at some of the youth working at lowly pay jobs like Uncle Man 文叔 in Hong Kong, they have a lot to learn to lovin' their jobs regardless of their pay (although I feel MINIMUM WAGE should be introduced in Hong Kong as I see the lower pay workers are only getting HK$20 to HK$30 per hour is SO SO BAD when these companies are making so much profit!!! And also it doesn't cost to treat people nicely (it seems Hong Kong is getting worst and worst with politeness in everyday life because the lower end populations' wages are being squeeze every year - more work load, less pay, less time to care their families) - so people become harder to smile at their jobs!

Well done Uncle Man 文叔. You are giving me a small reason to lovin' McD!

I took with me 35mm f1.4 MF, 24-85 f2.8-4 zoom and a 16mm fisheye AF. Didn't bring the new 14-24 or the 24-70 because of the size and weight.

Nope, I used the Nikon D700 on this trip......just take a look at the night shots, Leica does not have the same low light capability yet!

It will be really hard to set up ICAC in China. Remember how determinate HK(British) government was by 1970s when setting up ICAC to root up corruption? Since there exists so much conflict of benefits, it is really not likely that our current China government will (or able to) do that in the near future.

This is sad...! :-(
