So about 2 weeks ago I competed at the 2009 US Wushu Team Trials in Cupertino. This would be my first team trials competing in Nanquan, Nandao, and Nangun. For my order of events I was last in nanquan, first in nandao, and last in nangun. I thought my numbers for nanquan and nangun were good since I was going last, but bad because I was going first for nandao; and the judges tend to either forget your performance, or use it to compare to the upcoming competitors. However, I placed 1st in Nandao, 2nd in Nanquan, and 2nd in Nangun. I was scored 1st place in nanquan, but then later the same day I was told there was some arbritration with another competitor's score, and I got bumped down to 2nd place. My nangun form started off really well, but my legs just died by my 3rd section =(.
Still I cant believe that what I thought would be my worst event would end up being scored the highest. which is kind of funny since I've only learned nandao 2 weeks prior to the competition haha. Much thanks to Coach Wei Wei and Wang Wei for helping me!, and also for Sifu Chris Ho for letting me train extra days at SCWA. I am also very grateful to have Dennis and Phil to train with at SCWA, since we always pushed each other. I am so lucky and thankful to have people who can help me with my wushu, and also to have a place to train!
Here are some pics from the event: SCWA

Here are some comparisons of me at CMAT when I first competed in Nanquan, until now haha
Because of my placings I ended up on the US Wushu B-Team. This means I
will get to go to Pan-American Games the next year. Overall though, a
very fun event! The anticipation of results, the hard training, and fun
competition days and afterparty were all very memorable.
Lost is back on! and it was craaaaaaaaazy. Why is Locke so awesome, the premiere was so insane. Hope the season will be good. I really like the music video that is played with the Fray's "You Found Me" It gives me chills haha.
Also, I've been watching How I Met Your Mother. Wow that show is so funny, everyone has to watch it, makes me want to suit up haha. This is one of my favorite scenes in the show.
Havent really been up to much besides going to grad school and wushu. Grad school makes me miss undergrad. Anyways, other than the new Bond movie thats coming out I cant wait for the new Donnie Yen film to come out. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp3e2BPswSo
So this past saturday was the Annual CMAT. It was pretty fun. I feel like I didnt do as well as I should have, but alot of that came from still getting used to nanquan, trying to just land my back tuck into diebu within a few weeks, and trying to divide my practice time between basics, form, and jumps. I think the lack of practice time also contributed to my lack of confidence..which then affected my performance..*sigh. But, now I know its just back to basics time, and I will make sure that I practice enough so that I have enough confidence for my next tournament. At the tournament I also met Cao Yue, who I remembered from my trip to china like..6 years ago with Philip Chen. He said I looked familiar, and it was cool to talk to him again, plus his wushu is freakin awesome.
other than that, I have graduated this past Winter Quarter 2008! Now I have to spend a month or so to get a decent score on the GMAT so that I can hopefully attend grad school at CSU Fullerton, wish me luck on that haha.
O yeah The Office is BACK! That show is amazing, at first I thought the beginning of season 4 was kinda weird but after last night's episode i thought it was pretty awesome. Everyone should watch The Office!
Sammy took alot of pics at CMAT and Tommy sent me a link to them and I found some pictures of me at the tournament. I need a tan..haha
So..heres my second blog entry in a while haha, i'm just going to ramble on whatevers on my mind. I finally finished my last fall quarter and thats a big relief. Im graduating next quarter so I'm kind of excited but nervous and also relieved. After that its studying the GMAT for business school so hope thats goes through.
Some Tv and movies I've been watching: Finished season 3 of Lost a while back and man that show is awesome. Lost is the best. I finished season 2 of Heroes and what the hell happened? Season 2 felt like it was all over the place. Man the show has so much potential but some of the episodes just sucked so bad. Hopefully next season it will get better. I finished watching Top Chef and Hung was the winner. I know he's cocky but that guy definitely can back up what he says, plus he's Asian and thats awesome lol..too bad Casey didn't do well tho. I definitely can't wait for The Dark Knight, I watched the prologue before I Am Legend, (which was a pretty good movie) and that alone was just freakin awesome why does July have to be so far. They also filmed some of the movie in HK which sounds pretty interesting.
Wushu-wise i have just been working on nanquan, but sometimes i get a little tired since I'm practicing the same thing over and over. but thats ok, I need it to get better. I practiced with DY, Tommy, and some other EMC people (i think?) at Phillip Sahagan's school and we did wushu, tkd, and cambodian martial art drills. It was pretty cool to try some new stuff and cross train a bit. Dennis, Ngoc, Tommy, Jesse, and Darren and I demoed for testing at Action Wushu 2 weeks ago. I've been practicing nanquan for about 3 months now..it still needs lots of improvement but I definitely like it more than changquan. Heres a vid from the demo that phil recorded
hey will, i dont know, D and Sam told us to just come by and be extras but for the movie I dont know when its coming out yet because we still have to clean up the footage still.
