  • Gathering with ex-colleagues

    Monday, Jun 8, 2009 11:56PM / Standard Entry

Traffic Jam ... stuck there about 1/2 hours

Nothing to do so just camwhoring myself...

This is the restaurant .... it's name is Yee Wen

Tonight have dinner with my ex-colleagues at a Thai Restaurant located at Manjalara....We ordered fish, prawns, paku, tofu, tomyam, pandan chicken & kerabu mango. It's quite cheap as each of us only pay RM16.90. It's operated by Thai people but they can speak Hokkien...

Can you guessed what is the dishes above in a correct order? Forgot to take 1 more photo...Guess what?

It's been awhile since we get together & I feel kinda odd-out coz they were talking about the system - the current & the new one. I feel like I don't have anymore comments on this. Probably because now I'm working in totally a different industry & it's been more than a year since I moved on... Yeah I moved on... People needs to keep moving on & keep improving themselves. Do I need to move on again? Most of the time when colleagues get-together whether it's current or ex, the topic of the conversation will be either the bosses, the other colleagues & complaints. Why do people like to get-together & gossip... is it the norm? Anyway, besides that I also learned a lot of new ideas from them for eg. how to do a freelance business etc.
Well I guess it's good if we can meet up once in awile with friends or colleagues. Who knows, we might be able to learn new ideas & be inspired. I believe I have learnt something during the meet-up. It's rare that colleagues can be good friends. I'm happy that my ex-colleagues still can be good friends with each other. Another day has arrived when I finished typing this post. Good morning!

  • Smoothies anyone?

    Monday, Jun 8, 2009 11:52PM / Standard Entry

Last Friday & today, I'm trying to work out a good recipe for smoothies for a new client? We're trying a few different combinations for raspberry, strawberry, blueberry & chocolate flavours. It was fun trying different dosages of each ingredients & we make our test kitchen messy. We are experimenting using our Dreidoppel fruit compound, fruit filling, mango puree & cocoa powder together with whipping cream from MUH, yoggi powder from Pregel, ice cube & sugar syrup. I hope we can offer a better solutions to the customer. Now I know how to make smoothies.......

  • My little food rendezvous at Teluk Intan

    Sunday, Jun 7, 2009 10:24PM / Standard Entry

I was back to my hometown last weekend.... and had some rendezvous with the local food there... been a long time never tasted the famous local food there.

The ever famous "Anson Chee Cheong Fun" - different from Penang & KL. It's stuffed with pork, 虾米 and 菜头(i hope i get it correctly)

"Lo mai fun with char siew" - Teluk Intan style - so far still can't find this type of lo mai fun at other places

Home-cooked food by my mum - steamed fish with special sauce bought from Malacca, sambal prawn ala mum's style, 药材汤炒包菜。

These 2 dishes are bought from the market - it's called "acar" & "五香肉"
My hometown now boasts a cinema under the BIG Cinema brand (compatible & comparable to those in KL). My 2 sis went to watch "Angels & Demons" - I took this photo of them
Lastly a little early birthday celebration for my sis who is turning 29 on 10 June....
That's all my little rendezvous in Teluk Intan with my family & food.

  • My little adventure at Pulau 3 - Sabah

    Thursday, Jun 4, 2009 5:54PM / Standard Entry

My 1st trip to Pulau 3 in Sabah in 2006. I remember it's end May/early June. Just like to share my experience in Pulau 3. It's famous for the volcano mud - popularised by the 1st Survivor program - a US reality TV show. I'm so excited to come to this island because i saw my friend's photos when she came back from her holiday... it's so different from other tours. So I make sure when i visit KK I must come to Pulau 3. I asked my friend in KK to arrange the trip to Pulau 3. Apparently there are 2 resorts in Pulau 3 - Pulau 3 Resort & Borneo Survivor Resort. My friend booked us the latter. You can check out the website - http://www.borneosurvivor.com.my/

    On the way .... greeneries
I can't remember exactly which date we went - most likely is early June 2006, on the day the resort staff picked us up from KK in their pick-up truck & drove us to Kuala Penyu jetty. The journey took about 1 hr plus but I'm very excited already.

    Boats carrying Sabah flag

Upon reaching Pulau 3 - so happy

My friend & her bf (then) , now is husband

We reached there in the afternoon - we choose camping style for this trip. Not many people in this resort, there's another group of about 8 - 10 pax. My group has 4 persons. Once we settled down, we changed & start our adventure journey to the volcano mud area. We have to walk a
few km before we reached our destination.

We passed by this Taman Pulau Tiga office - it's the office of Pulau 3 National Park. The first 2 pics is only appetiser. The more bigger volcano mud area is further in. Looks at the photos. They were many people walking out already coz we start our journey quite late.... I forgot to take their
pics..... looks so much fun! I guess they really have fun.
We reached our destination & saw a big volcano mud pond there....i feel "geli-geli".... anyway, we just put our legs inside the mud to get what it feels....slowly we were all inside the mud. Heard that it is good for the skin - wandering whether this is true or not? Don't need to write more, see for yourself....
After having our fun time in the mud, we walked back to our resort - fun fun fun .... we become muddy person. Having our shower ... look at the washroom - it was so basic & back to nature concept. The water is yellowish but anway we washed up coz we have no other choices. Dinners was served by the resort. They have 1 special dish which is local specialties - look at the pics. Forgotten the name of the dish.
Nothing much to do at night, just chit-chatting & we went to sleep about 10+. First time sleeping in a tent - OMG so hot & so uncomfortable, feel like suffocating inside. I remember telling my friend, it better not rain tonight. But the opposite just happened, it rains & very heavily. In a short while, our tent was flooded. We can't tolerate anymore so the 4 of us jump put from our tent with our belongings & run to shelter at their dining area. This is the most interesting & adventureous trip I've been. We were the last 4 who run out from the tent - OMG. The resort staff allowed us to stay in the longhouse which is further up. It's such an adventure, we were changing our accomodation from camp to longhouse in the middle of the night while raining heavily. I can still remember this incident. This trip is the most interesting, exciting & adventureous trip I ever had so far....
Nxt morning, we went for an outing to a nearby island - Pulau Ular - the name itself already tell us that we'll be hunting for snakes - water snakes. This island is popular for snakes. See pics below...
Lazy to continue, just look at the photos & you'll know.
I can summarise my trip to this island as fun, wet, different & unforgetable.
I really miss KK... i wanna go back next year to climb Mt.Kinabalu
