I went to the East Village to get a massage the other day and boy, was it needed. I got my legs stretched out and twisted around in a million directions and a bunch of really bad knots rubbed out of my back. It was so relieving, in my current gnarled-up state, that I think my chest literally started to hurt when I realized the massage was going to be over in a few minutes. Lately when I go get massages the masseuse always asks me why I'm like this at my age. It kind of scares me that they ask me that because I actually don't see any near end to this bout of workaholism, nor my OCD typing at the computer. Trying to focus on "getting better" the next two months... seeing various doctors...

Anyway... I'm writing another article for Theme Magazine (www.thememagazine.com) for the first time in a while, a profile on a talented filmmaker/fellow alum named Jinoh Park who just made his first feature.

Jinoh has made several shorts in the past that went to Sundance and Cannes, including:

Lunch, which is about a homeless woman finding her lunch in a garbage can

    and

Request, which is about a boy who wants to remain with his mother's body as it's being prepared for a funeral.

Also, we finally set up a page for my good friend Eun-ah Lee, so go visit her if you can! A kickass cinematographer.

My body could use a massage right now. The only time I get one is when I'm in China. I have one of those massage seats at home, but it doesn't quite do the trick.

Sounds like you've been busy working hard.  At least you're not forgetting to take of yourself entirely.  Is the stress just from working and sitting in front of the computer for long periods of time?  Are you getting enough rest?  I think sleep is a little underrated by most.  As well as the the massages, maybe you can take some breaks from working to stretch your limbs and refresh your eyes.  Do take care of yourself.  Good heath is everything!

You've been busy lately. A big change from a few months ago, eh? Hope these massage sessions and other "getting better" treatments will do what you want them to do. Miss you!

oh, yes I lurve massages.  So beneficial, I have to ask around to see who does them here.   Glad you got a good one, hopefully you can find healing and balance soon.  Good luck with the article, Jinoh sounds really interesting.

I hope you can get sorted, at least the massages can help, but it's hard to try and get time to correct the situation, I  am sure  you can find a way.

    Best Wishes for the article.

I love a good Chinese massage, as well, as long as one of the ladies are doing it!  lol  They can be pretty rough, though.  I guess because I am 6'1" (185 cm.) they feel I will have no pain, but...ouch!

I also have terrible tension and "knots" in my shoulders and back. Apparently they occasionally cause headaches, so back massages definitely help a lot. We should be making it a regular thing... for our health... :)

A friend refuses to use her computer for music; she has a CD player and manually changes them. That way, she says, she gets up at least once an hour.

I have a knots in the neck and shoulder areas. My masseuse always ask me why I have to sit in front of the computer all day long. I always answer "because that's the only way to do my job."
