  • Finally started really reading "Walden." According to Thoreau's "Economy," changing clothes should more reasonably happen at important junctures in life; similarly to molting, or leaving a chrysalis.

I just saw (500) Days of Summer last night.  $7.5 budget and $31. box office.  A 400% return on investment.  The script is excellent and the presentation clever - contrasting the way it once was to the way it turned out in the relationship.  Is it fate and destiny or just coincidence?  Is love and commitment real?  These are the kind of movies I enjoy.  Have you seen it?

Thanks for you comment, Wendy.  No, I haven't been submitting this, or any of my writing, for publication.  I wouldn't even know where to submit something like this.  It is just something that I sat down and wrote in a couple of hours.  The idea for this came to me at dinner Tuesday night and then I went upstairs and got it down on paper (well, computer, really, since I compose sitting at the computer).  Occasionally I think I should submit some of my poetry for publication, which is easier, there are poetry magazines for that sort of thing and I could get a book from Borders that details the poetry market, who's publishing poetry these days, etc.  But this sort of expository prose with literary preventions, I really don't have a clue where I would send it.  I tend to despise what the MFA in creative writing types produce, and they are the ones getting published these days (if anyone is getting published).  I have no training or degree in creative writing, I just write especially beginning with the period of my life described in the last essay.  Do you have any ideas?

My point was that I like a movie based on ordinary people in ordinary situations.....remember....I`m an Ozu fan. hahaha  But a movie just came to mind that was ordinary but excellent - remember Nobody`s Fool with Paul Newman.  I love that kind of movie.  There are `characters` everywhere and we`re all on a journey.  I liked the settings you mentioned.  You clearly gave away no storyline worth pitching but I liked the settings.  I could see how interesting stuff could happen there plus how even though it may be Chinese-permeated it all boils down to the human condition.  By the way ---- START WRITING!!!!!

No, you got it right the first time Wendy. I just hope I make some sense when come down to topic that is very specific such as one on your recent blog. "opinion can always offer insight to any situation" doesn't necessary mean it's relevant either but I like that ur thoughts always make me think and that's why it take me so long to reply sometime.

Do you guys usually cook? Do you cook or him? I haven't have figs for ages; note to self I must get some this weekend. How do you usually prepare figs? Paulaner beer I have never try before either. Something to learn about everyday even just food talk :-) 3 miles walk, that's serious walk. I find that walking always help clear my mind and it also help blowing up some steam. I don't always make a point to walk regularly but I know I'm most productive after the walk especially when I have all those coding (same as you with writing just in my case it's in computer language =P) to do.

I'm glad you get it as not many understand why knowing my weakness helps. I don't feel I need to improve my weakness as much as strength so it always good to identify the differences. Lots of people mistake my kindness for weakness for example but that is not a weakness to me so perception is powerful and what I think is my weakness don't mean it's to other. I used to think that it's better if I'm invest my time in things I'm good at instead of fighting "it tooth and nail" for things I'm terrible but passionate about. These days, I learn to balance it out because without that passion, nothing really matter. You can be doing things you're so good at but miserable, what's the point right? Same as fighting road blocks and thick wall to do what take people an hour and for me, a month, is definitely not a way to go either. I like being in my 30s because not being destructive while fighting my way out of road block helps. If it helps, I think I'm at my best alone...always. Being a loner is good, make you learn more about yourself and make you stronger with a good sense of who you are...so I feel.  Listen to others talking about theirs also a great way to learn how to deal with my own so please continue to share yours!!!

Yes, I'm dipping back in the pool of Elle's mistake that somehow I can't seemed to let go. That mistake or rather a choice that chosen for me is one pricey mistake, 100K-ish mistake according to my student loan bill. I'm just trying to get my feet wet and be honest to myself this time and will see if that J.D. is really the answer to my next 5 years career goal. It's going to be crazy but if not now then when right?

    Have a great weekend Wen.

I always seem to have something to say about everything :-) It rarely that I got nothing to say but I don't want to be opinionated about things I don't know about.

I read a comment you made about the Japanese guy in Hangover.  Actually he is Korean-American homegrown playing a Chinese guy Mr. Chow.  He is also a doctor who turned comedian and is now part of the Apatow ensemble.  His name is Ken Jeong.  I agree that character was really extreme but in a weird way was one I wanted to know more about.  Check out YouTube for some of his work:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnwUJ-wG9NQ

Wendy, thank you (^_^) I'm actually not being self-deprecating at all. I butter-coated the words a little with jokes but on the serious note, it just me saying I know my weakness. I still have yet figure out all my strengths but I know my weakness really well. It helps to be honest with myself especially when I'm choosing a really expensive education path right? My professors agree I'm good at litigation but entertainment, divorce, etc are not my best and criminal law is so messy. I do like politic but that train is gone unfortunately. I'm looking at my books as I write you this and wonder what am I getting myself into. How was your long weekend?

Hey Wendy. I'm not sure about the city, but NY did seem to be a center of camera manufacturing. I've yet to get the right film (not sure I can), but it is possible to dismantle some of the innards to make the 120 film work. I'll probably have to do it, but it is my last resort. Not that the camera is all that valuable.  I found another box of cameras I had forgotten about. I guess I thought they were books. Unfortunately, the leather cases are all covered in mildew and mold. As soon as I get some leather cream, I'll be cleaning and restoring the leather cases. Yuck. But i've only me to blame.  Fortunately, the really old stuff is in the good box. I guess it is time to organize the office bookcase to accommodate the gear. Interestingly, all the cameras belonged to my parents, grandparents and great uncle. A lot of kit for a globetrotter like me.

Oh gosh, I'm such a bad joker...forgive me but if it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one that didn't get my joke(s). I just have very odd sense of humor. Well, successful director=$$$ so you definitely need a good divorce lawyer. Basically, I'm rooting for you to be hugely successful by the time I made it through school and well, my way of saying divorce law is not for me....it's just not in me and I will never make a good divorce lawyer for sure....lol. Handing me those cases is pretty much like not having a lawyer at all...hehehe.

I'm not sure if I'm going into litigation at the moment but this kind of degree, you can work for a company legal department and responsibility can just be file patent for a new technology or keep the current copyrights...current  :-) I'm still planning to take advantage of my engineering background though.

You cracked me up Wen :-) But I would be scare to represent a successful director for her divorce someday...know what I mean...lol

Entertainment is such a hard industry and even harder program but most of my friends choose to go into entertainment law. I think I stay with corporate law, copyrights, trademarks, etc. :-) You would not believe it but I used to toy with divorce law too...So, is that a hint Wen =P

Enjoy the warm weather weekend. Off to Napa now.
