Mike Moore: When Roosevelt came in ...(he) said to General Motors and Ford, you're not going to build cars anymore. You're going to build airplanes and tanks and guns and the things that we need for this war...

King: What do you want them to do now?

Moore: President-Elect Obama has to say to them, yes, we're going to use this money to save these jobs, but we're not going to build these gas-guzzling, unsafe vehicles any longer....

Yay! Arsenio Rodriguez. So warm and sunny. Suits me just right about now (another reason I've been drawn to Jackson Heights lately, though that area in Queens is more Central and South American. Photo trip soon).

So this video mentions he was the descendant of a Congolese slave.

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oCudVfHZ88

Congolese dance class has been fun. My God, if your lower back or stomach needs some flexing, this is the dance to do.

In terms of the foot movements, the Electric Slide came from Congolese (as my teacher mentioned).

All the hip-moving and grinding on top of those foot movements might seem sexual to some, but it's really not inherently sexual at all.  It's the kind of thinking you have to get past in order to really let go and express yourself in a way that can be pure joy, if you're around people you can trust. It's just good exercise, and it builds all these little muscles that you might not ordinarily use. My teacher is amazing!!!  She must have developed a ton of muscles that I never knew were there... I'm skipping the class today, though. Tired from being at Asia Society all day yesterday!

Thanks to the girls who came out to support. So lucky to have them there (:

I love the music, it's very tempting to just get up and start dancing. The Congolese sounds a lot of fun and great exercise to boot!

Ah hope it was a good tired from the society, nice to see you got support too.

Same with the mambo.  You can't help getting up and moving and grooving.  I still think the movements are sexual and sensual, but maybe that's just the exhibitionist in me.
