Notes for the directors :

Mili,

Try to help Mocha to improve her speech problem, she tends to a bit too presentational
When you mentioned about pacing, did you get the good feelings from what they have done as well?
you should try to find out how to make your actors can keep what they have done best during last rehearsal.

I think you have to aware more about the situation of the scene. Where does it happen? it may give you more ideas about impluse and pacing as well!



Jack,

Scene 6, is not easy at all.
Remember, Dan has answered Alice many times with a single "Yes". How can you make the differences for the audience to feel the frustration in Dan?
The Motivation of all actions in the scene you have presented, they seem have not enough and weak for the actors, you have to find out more method to motivate your actors to achieve it.

Why did you ask Shelia to enter at the beginning of the scene?
Sometimes, it's easy to over-dramatize the dialogues, because you have ignored the situation, but at the same time, you may under-play the characters, so that the Dramatic points are not strong enough
Blocking is rather be better less than too much!!!

you do need to study more the scene before you start with actors.
And try to find out, does your actor doing an indicating acting?
Run thru the whole thing, may not be the best thing for the actors to notice what's the content of what they are doing.

you have worked with the actors who have prepared before your session with them. so you should discuss with your actors and understand what they have prepared and try to make use of their work to achieve what you want.
the energy level of the scene is rather low.


Kelvin,

As a director, you have to be Objective and Subjective at the same time. Can you feel the passion from your actors? Do you think you have good energy to match with them?
you got a great scene, but at the same time, it's difficult scene.
Even though you can't join the end show, but at least you can make a better class work with the actors you have la.

some other announcements

1) you have to come again for the next acting class (at least for the 2nd half) to choose your actors and make them to help you in your semi project during my absent
2) your semi project will be a scene from Doubt. you have 3 scenes to choose from, so please study your scrīpt before next class. (if you don't have it, please find it from the attachment)
3) I am going to offer you all to come to see the Technical Rehearsal for Pajama Game on the 18th of Nov at Sheung Wan Civil Centre.  Not compulsory but it would be good for those who wants to know more about directing.
4) End show project will be your free choice from what you have chosen before or a brand new scene from 3 scrīpts i have given you.
