  • Sundays - summer 2009

Sundays. Days that i sometimes refer to as 'lonely sundays'. I know its kind of a blue statement, but this is truely how i feel. I guess not having 'family sunday' or pets to pamper sorta lead to such melancholy feeling. But it certainly shouldnt lead to solutions such as to have a baby or hang out with your in-laws! Instead ppl often chose to go to the beach, play some ball, or simply bum around home watching season finalies. Sad fact is i dont have an ideal sunday, for it marks the end of weekend and here comes monday- not that i have an office job, but saturday is just so much better :D Anyways, here are a few of my sundays i d like to share, enjoy!

Repulse bay, hk - this beach was certainly packed with ppl, not only beach goers, but fully clad mainland tourists, not the most appealing sight to be honest, plus loud speakers every five minutes, i guess this is what late beach goers have to bear, otherwise i would have gone to beaches further away from city. Nevertheless, the sunset is breathe taking still. Time spent: 2 and 1/2 hours sleeping/ sun bathing

Changsha, Hu Nan - one of my work weekends, shooting a tv programme in random provinces, kinda part of my life. The premise surrounding me is hugh, probably up to 30-40 acres, took the owner 5 years to build, solely for dining purposes! What a spender. Tea experience there is undoubtedly a 4 star. Time spent: 3 hours non stop shooting

MGM hotel/casino, macau - one of those casino giants found in the gambling city of macau. I particularly enjoyed the center plaza view, for its a success reviving the portugese colonial culture. Besides, I won 800.00 hkd that day :) Pity that besides the casino, there arent many ppl dining or using the facilities, which is worrying to the future of gambling big brands. Time spent: 4 hours dining/ browsing/ gambling

HK cultural exhibition center, hk art festival - wat a disappoint for its not remotely ready yet, i only got a glimpse of it seeing contractors walking in and out... nice posters tho. Time spent: 1 hour walking in and out

  • My birthday 2009
     |  )

    Sunday, May 10, 2009 5:12PM / Standard Entry

Thank you all for the lovely birthday blessings, you are so kind to me.

This year's party was held at my new apartment, champagne, snacks and poker game, it was noisy and fun, nothing crazy like the year before, dont ask - it was literally raining down champagne! It has been a while since i have a bunch of friends coming over, for the past few weeks it has been family gathering mostly; i guess as an uncle-to-be, i d like my future nephew be all healthy and sound, so i want my sister to have good healthy food at my place rather than hers. I wish her maid is a better cook lol.

Otherwise, nothing significant has happened to me lately, i did go into hospital once whilst working a tv programme in chang sha, china for having Gastroenteritis, meaning bad ass diahorrea! Thank god its all over, that was just too bad an experience i dont wanna bring it up again. That aside, my leisure time is revolved around furniture hunting, stocks and gym mostly, just enjoying my peaceful quiet life. Anyways, given the blissful summer is here, i really need that tan! I guess i will make appearance on many sandy beaches this year:)

what is your summer plan? Have a joyful summer folks!

  • My favourite things #101 & #102
     |  )

    Thursday, Apr 23, 2009 5:48PM / Standard Entry

Welcome to viddy's 100 favourite things! Today i m going to introduce you guys my #101 favourite thing, this favourite candy of mine - HARIBOOOOOO! yes we all love it dont we? But this is not the end of it, they now have Smurfs flavor, or Les Schtroumpfs as you can see above. I first discovered them in a train station candy store in zurich few weeks ago, i know its kinda random, thinking how great it would be if we have it here in hk, and Boom! I just happened to find them on the shelves in Park n' Shop, i was like, HURRAYYY! They are so tasty! Different from the original ones, these Schtroumpfs are made in france instead of germany, but where ever its made, its amazing and it gives you sugar craving ppl sugar high which is even better, YEEEHEEE... (okay i need a moment here) Jujifruits is also widely acclaimed awesome, that sugar coating and tangy flavor- lethally addictive; but then when it comes to gummy chewy candy, i must give my hands down to the Haribo Smurfs, i mean come on, dont we all watched and loved Smurfs back in the days and now they even have Papa Smurf candy! They are truly 'Les Bombs'!

#102 favourite thing of mine is explaining to ppl 'My firm belief on extra terrestrials even though we never see them''... thats right. Now i know i have no proof on such super natural being, my point is they exist for us do, and they are NOT as far fetched comparing to the 'gods' us humans chose to believe in for centuries. In other words, i dont have a religion, not an atheist, just havnt found one yet. I suppose until now, i support george carlin and louis ck full heartedly (both comedians disbelief religion like christianity). Now for the reason why we never see these 'little green man' is very very simple:

'IMAGINE THE ODDS, ITS WAY TOO HIGH'

Notice i chose the word imagine instead of to think, for the most powerful computer on earth wont be able to work this out, but on the other hand it is very simple. Here it goes: imagine how many light years ago our universe is formed, compare it with the birth of our solar system, compare it with the centuries it took for our civilisation to acknowledge space, then compare it with the years we explore space. The answer is only insignificant. Plants die, creatures die, planets die too and civilsations die with it. What are the odds that out of our vast universe, that two planets are formed, not only in close proximity, but also at approximate time line, thus nurturing two individual civilisations, that one or both of them will have the technology to space travel far enough to meet the other? This question my friend, not even steven hawking has an answer to. But u guys understand now why jodie foster came back to earth saying 'what an awful waste of space' blah blah in Contact. Some critics say the movie is an awful waste of time lol, that we have far more important things to think about, may be so, but i definitely belong to one of those who want to greet those beings hidden in area 51. How about spending 1.5 mill hkd on a two hour spacecraft travel? Time for me to start saving up... Hope u enjoy the read :)

  • There and back again part 3 - London
     |  )

    Tuesday, Apr 14, 2009 10:14PM / Standard Entry

London, a city where i used to live in. Its been ten years since i last visited, a little nostalgia swept over me. I only stayed for three days however, since i caught a flu from ny, and have not recovered since. I remember a little incident at the custom, when a lady after me had her hand carry scanned and was asked for a 'chat'. Apparently she was carry nothing but 50 bras in hers, i know because the staff was amused one of them just shouted,' fifty big ones!'

Anyways, it was great to hang out in london, a place where i m familiar of. I was lucky for weather there is almost like the summer, and that is very rare i tell you. I started off wandering in king's road, had brunch with my aunt, then do a bit of furniture hunting around the area. I ended up looking in harrod's and surprisingly it has most of the things i wont, alas the dimensions were much for hk standards. On the first night, i did squeeze some time to go to fancy restaurants and bars with friends, but it kind of worsened my condition so i just turned to focus on going site seeing during the day. The Tate modern art gallery is a good place to go, its complimentary to the public, yippee. Apart from that, i particularly enjoyed portebello street, kensington park, and covent garden.

Here end my around the world trip, hope you enjoyed the journey with me.
