Shanghai, 5th-7thThis was my second time in Shanghai, had a great time with the crew cuz i was the only girl in economy woo hoo (no..cuz they were real nice!). In the morning, I ventured out on my own (since the guy who was supposed to come along was still sleepin :P) took the hotel shuttle to Yatei Market (aka Underground market) cuz it's literally underground, I think it's just some market near the subway station but that's just me. A lot of the shops weren't open yet, but i saw a lot of fake goods. I'm not really into brandnames, so I didn't do much shopping. Hopped in a cab and headed to Yu Yuan Gardens...i think i spent a couple of hours there, eating dumplings, drinking my pearl milk tea, and just walking around. Paid 40RMB to get into the garden itself, and snapped pics, BOO..no one was with me, so i didn't get a lot of pics inside..but it's all good. Set the timer on my camera and snapped a couple of pics lol. Next stop was something like...Qi Chou shopping area or something, the conceirge told me that a lot of the locals shop there for clothes. So i went to check it out, it was somewhat like Platinum (BKK but not at whole sale prices) or Mongkok centre (HKG, but mostly clothes)..so that was interesting..Then i went to Nanjing Road (the walking street)...I went there on my last trip, but I still felt like walking back and forth. Discovered another lil underground market at the subway station..Took the subway back to the hotel..got myself a 2 hour oil massage...and stocked up on my dvds!!! I am a happy camper.
Perth, 19th-21stSo I was super happy, just as I was gonna sleep..I checked my roster and saw that crew scheduling gave me this flight. I've never been to Perth before, so that was cool. The flight wasn't as long as I thought it would be, around 10 hours there? and around 10 hours back. The crew were real cool, had fun, the customers were easy going, didn't have a lot of problems. Got to Perth around dinner time, and was thinking that I'd take a shower, get changed and go walk around. Didn't happen tho, woke up the next morning and met my friend Yam (we did a Colombo flight together, she was on the later flight to PER) I met her and some of the crew she flew with downstairs and off we went. The hotel is walking distance from everything you would want to see in Perth. The Bell Tower and the shopping, restaurant area. The weather was great 18 degrees, beautiful hoodie weather. It was good catching up with Yam as well, cuz I hadn't seen her since...Feb I think. Snapped lotsa pics and headed back to the hotel aroudn 6pm to sleep a couple of hours before it was time to head back to Dubai. I really like Australia, so refreshing..and the people are really friendly too! Down under rocks..so far i've been to Sydney and Perth...next month i have Melbourne! YAY!
Birmingham, 25th-27thAirport standby from 6am-9am..met my friend Girlie at the lounge, we were drinking coffee etc, then she got pulled out for a flight to Accra 30 mins later....and 15 mins later I was pulled out for Birmingham. Happy yet again cuz i've never been there before. The flight was around 7 hrs? I went to the briefing room and was happy to see a couple of familiar faces, crew that i've flown with before. Really good team work I must say, the service was done quite fast, and we all enjoyed each others company. Got to the hotel, and I think around 1 hour later I met Lavinia, and we made our way to Primark, and the shopping mall, Bullring area. Bumped into Reza and Charu, and shopped for a bit, they were dead tired, so they went back to the hotel. Reza and I walked around for a while, it was nice and cool again I think 18 degrees? So nice just walking around snapping pics. Grabbed something to eat and then he went to meet his family. I explored a bit, made my way to Bullring, saw a pretty church, and continued to make my way down the slope. There was this street market, unfortunately it was closing, so everyone was packing up their stalls etc. I was taking a pic, and then these guys were shouting stuff like "taking pictures huh, lil japanese girl.." blah blah blah so i was like umm..GHETTO!!!! and there weren't a lot of people around, so i made my way back to the crowded area...
Next morning I went to buy my fridge magnet and I was a little disappointed, because they didn't have pretty ones!!!! and there were no shotglasses in sight, maybe next time. Anyways, it was a good layover, I wouldn't mind doing the flight again some time.
Basically September was full of airport standbys (jinxed myself...was telling my friends that I only got 1 of them last time i was on reserve....so this time round...most of them were standbys at the crew lounge). Some days off, get togethers with friends :)
This month, I have days off, then Melbourne, Moscow, Colombo..my SEP exams...and then a turnaround to Kratoum =)
