i found myself in bali again with my fiance for a quick getaway. this muggy hong kong weather has been seriously bumming me out. going out to attack the heat and humidty is not exactly the carpe diem solution i was looking for. we're forced to either congregate around pools like a scene from the okavango delta during the flood season, or pray for someone else's hospitality to host a boat party. hanging out in the air conditioned climate of ifc as a really a last resort option.
anyhow, we left on thursday morning to bali. i watched star trek (again) on the flight wishing the USS enterprise was real. we used to be able to bribe immigration at bali's airport to bring us thru the fast track immigration thereby, skipping the peasantry of lining up in the unbearable stuffiness of the waiting hall. but since the unfortunate events of the most recent jakarta bomings, security is now rather tight, and might i add - slow.
we booked three nights at the balé hotel in nusa dua. we had our own private villa with a small garden and a decent plunge pool complete with an outdoor shower, private butler and complimentary breakfast. for what it was worth, it was a great deal compared to anything at the four season's in jimbaran.
anyway, the 3 days and nights were spent mostly on the beach or in our villa unless we had a dinner reservation elsewhere. the weather was PERFECT. it was a nice escape while it lasted i suppose. now back in the land of hairy moles and long pinky nails. *sigh*
