Hung out with Irene today in Central and really appreciated the complex conrete infrastructures of Hong Kong.  I mean... Central, the business district of Hong Kong is such an amazing place.  It's mind-boogling!!

I am sitting in the area by the water foundation in the midst of a jungle of skyscrapers.  It never fails to amaze me. I love the modern feel and lifestyle of this magical city, but I miss living in the woods and comforts of nature.

I love those photos. I never wear anything girly or printy. Rarely. Or it's so styled up that it doesn't even up being girly at all!!! :)

These shoes are so comfy and absolute show stoppers, everyone who saw them liked them.  Especially the guys! yay! haha

Went to the Toppy/Episode Dress show-case in the afternoon.  I was suppose to arrive there at 3 but being fashionable late, I couldn't find a spot to sit. Which at the end, proved to be good because I didn't want anyone to see my disgusted face.

Gaile Lok, Hong Kong's top model wore my favorite piece in the collection.  Tons of lace and roses.  Other than that piece, everything else was rather lacking.

    Photobucket

Lisa S. always looks good.  She is really nice as well. I thought the ending was the best part....

    Photobucket

The show was so bad that the favorite part of the show was perhaps when everyone cleared and I got to sit down! :))

But... at least I walked away with something!

Who knew that refueling gas at the station could be sooo much fun! I actually liked the tiger on that gasoline refueling thingy. It's quite stylish I think, I would like that on a t-shirt! It was sooooooooooo sunny! I love my new Diane von Furstenberg blouse I got as a gift the other day! Thank you!  It came along with a Jill Stuart top which I will wear soon!

    It's super sunny! sooo... couldn't a resist a "in-the-sun" picture. I don't like my eyes.....

And of course... who could resist a little zen pose. ommmmmmm

My current fav things: Jean leggings with studs, fierce bag and hats!

So, after a very fulfilling lunch, went to an interview.

    Photobucket

Today, it was with Drashta, an internationally acclaimed fashion designer whose pieces have been featured in VOGUE, Glamour. Marie Claire and ELLE.  Super talented!!  Well-known in India for her creative designs for Bollywood celebrities, Drashta is soft-spoken and vibrant.  A quick chat with her reveals her cheeky attitude towards societal problems and her desire to incorporate it with her fashion line!

Look at the detail in her clothing! She is known for her quilting in her fabrics and incorporate things from stars, hearts to currency symbols.  Even the inside of the garments look like artworks!! The sequin picture is a detail from one of her dresses. Divine!

Some of the clothing from her Spring/Summer 2010 line! Loved all of them, sparkling and pretty!

    Photobucket

The best part of the interview? Drashta dressed in one of her new spring line items and I felt like a modern princess.  It's this cake-line, chiffon, quiltted, kimono-inspired beige dress which is quite quaint and awesome.  I forgot to take a photo but there are Japanese Yen symbols quiltted onto the sleeves! Brilliant!

    Photobucket

Before I forget! These are the neckpieces she made out of crystalized fabric, super pretty and easy to match.  Speaking of which, I really really want one!

    Photobucket

Drashta is a super talented designer and in the span of this interview, she has acquired a new fan: me.  With her whimsical colors and upbeat attitude towards the world of design, she moves to change perceptions and the language of fashion through her innovative thoughts.  If I ever need to go to the next movie premiere, I would want to be dressed in Drashta!

    xx, val

  • Skittles-colored Vitaminwater

    Thursday, Sep 24, 2009 8:23PM / Members only

Hmmm... do I look like a lethal Men in Black protege? Carrying a weapon in this mysterious black suitcase? Pretty slick-looking, huh? It's actually a gift from Glaceau vitaminwater and I met up with the reps today and they presented me with a 20 ton box. ( it was really heavy) So... curious as to what was inside? It was a 6-flavour launch of the newest tastes in Hong Kong, all skittle coloured bottles packed in an environmentally friendly box.

Question is: Exactly how environmentally friendly could the box be?
    Well... here it goes...

This is how the base of the box looks when all the bottles are removed!:) Pretty right? Made me really happy!

What I did is use the box as a treasure chest by filling it with my headbands, endless bracelets, perfume bottles, draped with necklaces.  The box was so huge, it took me a while to fill everything up!

These were the dividers used to keep the bottles in place. All I did was found some way to hang it up and converted it into a handy scarf and eyeglass holder.  Better yet, the material of this holdler allowed me to stick my decorative pins in!

This is a the section in my fridge dedicated to vitaminwater. :) A colorful, happy and color-coordinated section of my fridge.

The base of the box was designed in a way that it can be used as a bulletin board.  So, I used it as my new inspiration board for the Fall 09 winter looks.

    AWESOME RIGHT?

vitaminwater is fashionable, healthy & environmentally friendly.
Not to mention they come in lovable skittle colors!

    Thanks for the gift!

Wearing: Oliver Goldsmith Tula glasses in autumn honey, FG & CB jacket, Balenciaga tote, Diesel belt, random tie-dye dress shirt, H&M earrings, KD necklace & ring

Long day.  Going to the airport, with my left-hand carrying all my travel essentials. My trusty crackberry, vitaminwater and my beloved Balenciaga tote. Think I am going to name my Balengy bag Wilfred. Hmmm... what do you think?

    Happy Travels!
  • Gifts from London: Oliver Goldsmith!

Wearing: Oliver Goldsmith Vice Consul frames in tortoise shell, KD necklace, Second Me dress, H&M earrings

WOOPIE! Got a package from London today from Oliver Goldsmith, my eye-wear buddy and founder of the eyewear empire! I am so honored to be able to don these once-upon a time glasses I thought I would never be able to wear since they are sooooo pricey. I am wearing the Vice Consul frames in tortoise shell, but my favorite is the Tula sunglasses in autumn honey.

Look at the lovely letter that came with it!
Oliver, I am going to take you to a nice dinner!:) Will wear my frames!

    My two frames!!

Love the OG empire and the things they stand for! Timeless elegance, grace and everlasting style. No wonder there was a celebrity following of Hilary Duff, Nicole Richie and Gwyneth Paltrow. All very stylish ladies. Glad to join the ranks.

P.S. If anyone is curious, I met Oliver at an interview I did for Beats Magazine earlier this year at his Hong Kong stop during his asian tour.

In the words of Oliver Goldsmith, "Why do you change clothes every day, but not your frames? I believe every women should have a closet of frames to choose from."

    I agree. I want more! :)
  • I am glad I am not a shark.

Day 1: After my lonely adventure at the cinema watching The Proposal, I was filled with warm feelings of love and hope. With a light heart and high spirits, I boarded the ferry to embark my my food tasting tour in Macau, a city just a boat ride away from Hong Kong. It's this little Portuguese town which still, quite fondly, contains some of that small town charm with the big day casinos. Loving the very European architecture and the use of tiles in seemingly everything, from the pavement to the street sign on the walls. All tiles! Had some curry goodness and pineapple rice in ... dun dun dun... PINEAPPLES! wooohoooo.

(look at these tiny cute pineapples... :))

Alright, here comes the sensitive issue. When I was on this eating tour and turned into this lovely looking alleyway, didn't expect to be trying weird shit, knew I was going to be trying different stuff. So, when it was time for some shark's fin soup. I wasn't down. At all. I spent the greater part of my high school years as a member of the coral monitoring team. So, it's lots of oceanic knowledge and awareness. It's hard for me to eat something knowing that fisherman take the shark, chop off the fin and throw the fish back in! :( And, leave them to die, bleeding to death. I only watched when the others ate.

(Shark's fin soup... spoon is showing the fin... )

Look at these pictures and tell me you still want to try shark's fin. It's just cruel.. it's like me chopping off your butt cheeks because it's soft meat and leaving you to die....

So... that kinda ended my night for me, in terms of food! Stayed at the Alvita, the newest 6-star hotel in Macau. Yay! Ended the night, gambling away and losing money. Not much, that's good.

End of Day 1! Happy Macau! Be good, don't eat sharks.
