Todd Berry handicapped with blindness from birth has overcome his handicap to not only sing and perform but has been able to step up to the next level when he courted and was signed to a recording contract with Spotlight Records of Galloway, Ohio. Todd has been singing since the age of nine successfully making a living doing what he loves. Todd has been influenced by several artists including Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Metallica, Big & Rich, Huey Lewis, Lynard Skynard and more. Todd also writes and produces original music of his own and for other artists.
Spotlight Records produces and promotes Pop, Rock, Gospel and Country music. Headquartered in Central Ohio since 1989, Spotlight Records is an independent recording company founded by Jim Bruce who has recorded Debbie Collins (Country), Brandi Lynn Howard (Country) and Category IV (Rock). Spotlight Records service is targeted to the new or independent artist wanting to progress to the next level. Spotlight Records believes that modern technology combined with a business attitude is vital and an essential part of any entertainer’s presentation today. It is also necessary for any new or indie artist to understand that a major label contract is not absolute for you to make a profit, survive and/or succeed as an entertainer today. It has been proven that many indie artists without a major contract have had a very successful career as an entertainer.
After many attempts to meet Jim Bruce the owner of Spotlight Records, Todd spoke to his wife Robin in hopes to meet Mr. Bruce by asking for an audition. Robin said to Jim "that kid from Indiana called again today and wants to audition and please at least listen to what he has to say." After talking to Todd Berry, Jim decided that he would schedule Todd to a private backyard performance. Mr. Bruce after listening to Todd perform was really impressed and offered Todd a recording contract to record, promote and distribute Todd Berry and his music.
Spotlight Records released a Todd Berry EP of 4 country songs last year to test the market and after a very successful release of his EP Jim Bruce and Todd Berry have decided to go ahead with the release of Todd's debut CD titled Better Day to Cry to include 11 original songs 5 of which Todd wrote himself.
With thick layers of instrumentation fronted by Berry’s trademark fresh, in-your-face voice and a tender ear for sophisticated country poignancy, Berry’s is able to combine the smarts of Keith Urban with the boldness of Rascal Flats, all while crafting a tightly produced, hook-laden country CD appealing to indie, folk, and pop fans alike.
A solid country sound performed in Nashville along with vocals recorded at Studio D in Summitville, Indiana and Spotlight Studios in Galloway created a enticing and exciting country CD capable of leaving old country fans shaking, and new country fans with their jaws on the floor, housewives quivering, and urban-kids feeling hip for a second or two, Better Days to Cry is as pure and emotional as it gets.
